So i have recently been thinking about the return of spartan ops and how it could happen and work in halo infinite, the way i see it, its a mode that needs to return as it was basically like a second story that added a lot to the lore of the franchise. how would i like to see it done? well how about a large open world setting that has it set where Zeta halo is the staging ground of a massive ground conflict and you (plus possibly hundreds of other people as well) would get to wage war against the enemy with an assortment of vehicles that would range from the classic ones like the warthog and ghost all the way to some newly drive-able ones like the pelican or grizzly. and the way it could operate is that you as your spartan that you play in the Multiplayer portion of the game and you would accept missions from spartan commander Sarah Palmer (if she is still alive by the time infinite takes place) and these missions can range from easy and simple to do like retrieve an enemy weapon for scanning for low ammounts of Exp and Credits or you could do a very difficult missoin that when completed you would earn large ammounts of Exp and Credits as well as a SpOps loadout weapon and a possible armor paintjob As for the story, well that would be up to you 343 to decide as im -Yoink- at making a story
Spartan ops done right would be amazing. Could even be its own side game if they up the cutscenes, maps, and story. If they make it a side mode in HI I’d hope for Spartan Ops to be better or on par with chapters 6-10 and not the horrid map repeats of 1-5.
I hope they do make another iteration of Spartan Ops. Sucks that Episodes 1-5 are what the entire season and success of the mode gets judged on. Those episodes were admittedly repetitive and that caused them to not be fun, but episodes 6-10 were quite enjoyable. However, I think a lot of players had moved on by that point so those episodes never really had a chance to shine.
I would love for Spartan Ops to return, improved of course. I feel like giving it a good run of atleast 2 seasons would be interesting and keeping it alive unlike how Halo 4 only had one season and for some reason I always expected another one...
I'm all up for additional story content, H4 Spartan Ops fell short for me though. The extra lore was appreciated but playing the missions bored me, at least most of them.
I have my own ideas.
  • Spartans would appear in cutscenes instead of gameplay only. Cutscenes would be rendered in-engine instead of Blur so YOUR Spartan can appear. You have Mark VI, the helmet will be Mark VI or, if you have Helioskrill, the helmet will be Helioskirll... and so on, you get the picture;
  • The size of the lobby would influence the Spartans that appear in cutscenes. Those Spartans would use whichever armor each member is wearing. The fireteam leader's Spartan would be the character that does everything while the other Spartans just stand there and watch, but the number wouldn't have any impact on the story;
  • If Elites are playable, they would replace the Spartans instead, depending on the configuration of each player. So we get a better image of cooperation between S-IVs and Elites, like what the Anvil initiative is doing. Just imagine, 3 S-IVs with an Elite or 2 Spartans and 2 Elites. Plot still doesn't change even if the entire fireteam are Elites;
  • Plot would involve something big, like the discovery of Mendicant Bias' core or more details about the civilizations of Ancient Humanity and Forerunners;
  • Make every mission have an impact. Not a "Clear-this-area" mission thing because it is boring and unnecessary.

I would appreciate some extra story or just random co-op missions as an ad on as long as they are different from the campaign. We just have to remember that they are trying to perfect campaign, arena multiplayer, and probably some form of warzone/firefight. Maybe spartan ops as DLC down the line.
yes, please bring back spartan ops, my favorite game mode in Halo's history. maybe introduce new objectives? I had an idea where spartans and a huge squad of marines have to escort an elephant as it carries an important something (prototype weapon, forerunner tech, some kind of device) through somewhere (city, valley, forest, idk). or maybe a demolition objective?

just keep reqs out of Spartan ops, it would get in the way of the missions. maybe handle load outs like they were in Halo Reach or in Spartan Assault/Strike.

it would also need to be in both matchmaking and custom games. maybe for the custom games, maybe also have optional skulls; Bandana, Grunt birthday, black eye, etc
Thing is, with SpOps they don't have to stick to just one story. Since it's called Spartan Ops, they could do any story about any Spartans at any time. The episodic delivery of SpOps means they could do a story in ten episodes and then do another story in ten episodes, maybe go back to the other story for ten episodes, do a flashback story in ten episodes...

They could use SpOps to try out new weapons, equipment, vehicles and other features. Stuff that doesn't work won't wind up in regular MP but you wouldn't be stuck with it in SpOps, either.

All SpOps really needed was better writing and dialog. It was coming along. Don't understand why they dropped it.
There's so much that can be done with Spartan Ops.I'd really like for it to return.
The simple fact that you get to play as your own Spartan is enticing enough.

This is literally everything I want from a co-op mode, in Infinite; playable Elites, and custom characters in a narrative setting. I’d loose my -Yoink- if this happens.
I don't see the general audience being interested in any version of Spartan Ops. Even today, most people don't know what it is. It's not a good idea IMO, no matter how well it's executed.

A lot of people at the time thought it was an excellent idea, even though it was poorly executed. Those of us that are advocating its return are thinking about what it would be like if it were properly executed. We know it's not for everyone.
I LOVE SPARTAN OPS <3 SpOps

It was 100's times better than Warzone is now.

My profile literally says nothing about my experience with Halo. If your dumb enough to go by that sort of thing then I feel sorry for you.

And you expect us to know how? This is the profile you're using for the forums, and we assume it's your main account and connect it's history and experience with you.
I've been thinking about this since the whole mtx thing. I fully believe 343 needs to ship a full game with no mtx. And if they want to monetize after that then that's fair. If they're going for a "live service" model, I think Spartan Ops would lend itself pretty well to that. I'd much rather pay for some good episodic content then a bunch of REQs. I think they could do a lot with it, and probably do it well.

It is my main account, but I'm not an online gamer and never have been. As I've said from the beginning, the online scene (while still fun) is a piss-poor experience compared to local Halo.
If you want an understanding of my history with Halo I wrote a bit in that Intro forum. Anyway, I never told anyone to go snooping around on my profile in an attempt to discredit my views. You guys did that yourself.

I don't really check the Introduction forums, in all honesty.
I didn't check your profile... well, I did, but after his comment and I got the idea that you haven't played the classic games. Now you're informing me that you made a post in the Introduction forums telling your history with Halo. To that I ask: Where can I find that post? Could you please provide me a link to find out why your main account has no data on the many games you consider to have experience on?
And here's more: If that post's so important about your experience with Halo, then why don't you have a direct link to it? How can we guess that the post exists without you claiming it?
