Piloting pelicans

OP RejectedTrain52

Infinite is the game where we need to see a flyable pelican even if it's in forge!
We've seen that it's possible with the playable mission in Halo Reach. It'd be cool to see the Pelican become a vehicle players can pilot in game, I'm just not sure how much use that would have for it to be a feasible addition.
Didn't we fly Pelicans in H4?

We did, and they should have added it to Halo 5's forge. We can still fly them with scripting, but it would be awesome to have Pelicans as troop transports. Even if they don't have weaponry on them for balancing issues in multiplayer, adding the Pelican, along with other vehicles from the past such as the Falcon and Hornet, would be a very welcome addition to the game!
The Halo 4 mission with the pelican was so cool! I hope we get another shot at using them in campaign/forge, maybe even different variants with different weapon setups?

Ooh don't underestimate the Halo forgers they can do miracles with basically everything available
I am still against the idea of piloting a Pelican. I think the Falcon would fill that role nicely (also bring back the Hornet to act as escorts). However I am also of the opinion that the Spirit would make a great areal transport for the Covenant as a counterpart to the Falcon (and let it carry wraiths too). So you could say I am contradicting myself a little, but I digress.

However I would like to see triggers and maybe some scripting tools in Forge to send Pelicans and Phantoms as a resupply/reinforce or even a pick up and drop off patrol route on the large maps as some sort of shortcut for infantry so they don't have to foot-slough through high vehicle traffic areas that will just outrun and eventually out gun them.
So I am against the notion of piloting pelicans and phantoms but not entirely against the concept of some control over Pelicans and Phantoms.

As for pilotable Pelicans, I can see them fitting into a spinoff game, say one that is based around the Saber demi-level from Halo Reach. Return as Nobile 6 is a Halo Space combat where you do fly the Longswords, Pelicans, Saber, and even Covenant Seraphs and Phantoms. We could use another arcade space shooter (i.e. Rouge Squadron) and the Human Covenant War would be a perfect backdrop. But one game at a time, so after Halo infinite we could talk more on a Halo Space Flight game.
In Campaign? Sure. Multi? Do you know how big a map would be to make sense for a Pelican to be included. I mean, to even make it fun to fly one? With the average size of large Halo maps you'd be bumping into the edges of maps every 5-6 seconds. I'd rather have the Falcon return to multi to carry around some teammates.
-Yoink- yea
Hopefully and also others such as falcon and Sabre.

Forgers continue to blow away expectations as to what can be possible. I'm always looking forward to seeing something new and ground breaking.
I would be all for a section with Halo 3 type pelican that annihilates phantom with it's barrage of rockets but at the same time it could possibly be just wasted resources for such short section without multiplayer appearance given it would become so nerfed when balanced with other vehicles that it wouldn't feel right.

Would be something that wouldn't be just transportation easter egg like in Halo Reach or fat near clone of falcon in H4 but something with firepower accompanying the size.
I hope the fully classic Pelican model is back.
I don't think we should ever be able to fly pelicans in Halo maybe in custom games that's it.

"peli-can", I love it! Yeah, there are more than a few reasons that one could argue for player operated Pelican's in multiplayer. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
