What type of Story / Campaign?

I agree with wanting it to have the mystery and wonder of the original Halo.

I'd like a game with the feeling CE had, but with modern capabilities in terms of storytelling and level design. CE's tone was near-perfect, but the game design was marred by Bungie having to reuse assets in terms of the level layout.

More specifically, CE had this incredible sense of grandeur and monumental scope. From the first steps onto the ring, you felt puny. And there was a real sense of mystery that was utilized in a way that aided that-- not everything was explained, but not everything needed to be. It left a lot up to your imagination, while filling you in just enough for the things that mattered to the immediate story. Above all, it felt lonely. For long stretches of the game, it's just Chief, marching onward. No allies, no support. Sometimes no enemies to be seen, either.

And at times CE was bright and glossy, and at other times it was dark and spooky, and some areas felt huge, others cramped, but no matter what they retained that sense of mystery and awe. And even though was often simple and/or bulky, the Forerunner aesthetic had a minimalist beauty to it. The newer Forerunner art style looks too sleek and too busy.

I wouldn't want it to copy CE for the story and retread what's been done already, but I would like it to take what IMO is possibly the best aspect of CE's campaign and utilize it within a new framework.

I am looking back at this post after a few months. man, I was so stupid. So instead, it takes place a year and a half later and Chief tries to cope with Cortana's poorly written betrayal during the campaign.
What kind of story would you want Infinite to be? What type of elements would you want in it? What tone would you like it to have?

I am not sure how it will work but I would love to see Infinite go back to the wonder and mystery of the original Halo. As I said, I am not sure how this would play out but as there doesn't seem to be a lot of mystery left in Halo but I am sure there are some unknown corners left in the universe. I just hope they do better in how they tell the story this time around. I do hope they visit the precursors and maybe tell their story a bit.

I would also like a level like 343 GS even The Library if done right.
Zeta Halo is basiclly confirmed to be the setting of HI. There is a lot of mystery to be discovered there and you can tell 343 is going in that direction. The biggest issue 343 had in Halo 5 was dialog and the method they told the story which was through exposition. They did too little of the "show don't tell" style of storytelling. It would have been far more interesting to play on the first planet the Guardians showed up on while doing an unrelated mission and see the planet be destroyed unlike have Lasky and Palmer giving a briefing to Osiris team.
After the E3 2019 trailer, it's gonna be a human story at least. The pilot is a intresting character and i care about his character.
