As we know in Halo Wars infantry > air, air > vehicle and vehicle > infantry.
I'm very new to the RPG style of HW2 and here's my question. Under which category does the Cyclops and Hunter fall under? I have ust been playing the campaign for now and I know the flamethrower guy and Cyclops are build in barracks which to me = infantry, but they say at somepoint that I should watch out for "these Hunters" as they destroy vehicle very quickly.
So I'm confused and would need maybe some explanation.
It's a very interesting thing; Halo Wars has always had some level of confusion to newer players who haven't quite grasped how everything works just yet (even some vets still find themselves discovering something new every now and then they'd never known about). You see little men running around, you assume they are infantry, you see vehicles, that's what you assume, same for birds. However, the Cyclops is rather unique in that it seems to be both infantry and vehicle, which I suppose from a technical standpoint is
correct seeing as there is a person piloting the mech. You build the Cyclops in the barracks with the other infantry but Hunters seem to just tear them a part as though they were vehicles though I don't believe a Hunters specialty is Infantry as a whole. (They do however deal a large amount of damage to just about everything you throw at them. So it may be less that Hunters are anti-infantry capable and more that they just really pack a punch.)
Hunters are Infantry that are anti-vehicle but can not hit air units. Air units wipe them out with ease while vehicles deal high amounts of damage to them, the trade off is that you might lose roughly two vehicles for every one Hunter pair the vehicles encounter.
Marines have also been moved from Infantry to base unit which makes them unique because you can upgrade them to be from disposable cannon fodder to anti-air conquerors.
Ultimately, the triangle formula still exists
it's just that 343i has changed some things around in the hopes that players can be a bit more, adaptable? I'm not sure really what word to use here as they could have been accounting for any number of things.
I hope that maybe helps answer your question.
