Wait? So you're removing the AR? Half of the marketing ad for H5 was the "fair starts" (Total BS Stormbreak & Noctus ) and the return of the classic AR Magnum start. Man so now not just half of your marketing was a lie but now everything about it is.
Bro, chill. This is just for competitive playlist settings

I know that. What would they replace it with though? SMG? That honestly would be kinda cool to see.
Great. Now the Assault Rifle is going to be useless again.
Way to go!
I especially enjoy how you aren't even trying to sugarcoat it though:

We know many of you have been anxiously awaiting updates on map and gametype settings for the Summer 2017 Season of the HCS, and today we’re happy to get into some details. Immediately following the Halo World Championship 2017 Finals, our team has been on a mission to collect and document as much player feedback from top players around the world. I want to take a moment to thank all of the players for their detailed input they have provided so far. Since the culmination of the Halo World Championship, the esports team has been meeting with various teams here at 343 (Multiplayer, Sandbox, Data Analysis, and more) to determine next steps for implementing updates.
Yes I'm a casual player in the Arena setting, and obviously since I'm not "good enough" my opinion and experience in a 1+ year old game doesn't matter.
Remember how Halo 5 launched with no social playlists? Forcing casuals into Arena. If you (343i) don't want "filthy casuals" in Arena Competitive playlists, then maybe you should consider launching games with good social playlists.

ASSAULT RIFLEPlayers have been providing feedback that the current gameplay around the Assault Rifle has become unfit for competition. After extensive review, we have determined that the data supports this feedback. The Assault Rifle’s effectiveness is similar across a wide range of skill levels, which is not intended. As a result, the weapon will not be featured in competitive play during the Summer 2017 season. We’re actively evaluating best ways to update the weapon and reintroduce into competitive play once the weapon has been retuned and tested.
What does that even mean?! You did not intend it to be effective?
It's not! It's just useful in close quarters combat! Ever tried sniping someone across the map with an AR? It's basically only possible if the enemy disregards strafing! Same applies in mid-range. If you get AR'd to death in mid range it's because:
1) Someone got the drop on you. You weren't paying attention.
2) You disregarded strafing.
It's an assault rifle, and yes, it is effective at close range. What else would it be?! Why is the AR in the game, if not to be effective in close range?
That's like saying the Shotgun should be removed because it is effective in close range.

The Assault Rifle is the starting weapon of almost EVERY playlist. You don't just change that based on a small segment of your playerbase.

I want to know what the "Top Players" feedback was. I also want to know, nay, demand to know why the feedback of "filthy casuals" like myself and the largest portion of your playerbase is completely disregarded even when discussing MAJOR changes to an already old game.
I hope you know the "Top Players" and the majority of he COMPETITIVE wanted to see this removed if you want ARs go to Warzone or Social

Let us know what you think!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: GLOBAL NERFING is a terrible idea and negatively impacts most of the whole game. Nerfs and buffs (or "Balance") to weapons shouldn't happen based on what people in arena are wanting specifically. Change weapon times, radar, and starts all you want, that's fine. However, no balance changes should be made unless the inbalance of a certain thing (weapon, grenade, vehicle, etc.) is a problem in all game modes (not just arena). Currently the problems you mentioned only seem to be problematic for ranked arena players. Not WZ/social playlist players, which still does make up a decent portion of halo.

Which is the problem. Nerfing the weapon globally will render it USELESS in warzone and social. Have an open mind for once and stop being self centered on "MUH ARENA!!!1!!11!!one!!!!" Focusing on one and one thing only is bound to cause a lot of problems for everyone, hence the reason why it's better to base balance of weapons on gamemodes/playlists, not just one (being ranked arena)

Sadly our opinions don't matter and the AR and the other autos will probably nerfed into the ground and become useless.
As it has been proven by the delay of the wasp nerf, this is sadly what might happen. A few people in arena say what isn't true globally (meaning in other playlists too) and as a result, balance shifts in the wrong direction. Apparently people think you can and should be able to kill everything in sight with the BR only. Hell, if it was a one shot kill no matter what, people in arena still wouldn't complain about balance because they don't seem to give a dam about the rest of the halo community. Just the ranked arena matches and HCS seem to matter to them, which, hey, if you only care about those two things, that's fine, but at least think about the meta in other game modes.

My solution: Keep the ARs and "Autos" out of arena and make it stay that way. Don't try to ruin their use in the mostly casual (and warzone competitive) play when they are already perfectly balanced. Just let the people in arena have their precision weapons and keep everything else the same. No need for buffs/nerfs.
Anywhere I can find these settings to test? Or should I make them myself?
343I,
Thanks for listening. I believe these changes will make halo the best fps again. You rock!
Stop changing -Yoink- people stop complaining about are and plasma rifles just out play them most of all don't change radar

The issues I had with the AR is that its to powerful. Now it can be used in competitive play if it is nerfed like the halo 1 AR is.

Here re are some more issues I like to see addressed in the future.

1.Nade hit markers need to be removed.
2. Splash damage of nades needs to be reduced.
3. The main utility weapon is random and almost useless long range. Implementing a better starting weapon or introducing a better scope for the pistol would be ideal. I still feel battle rifles are the clear choice, because they are accurate, but some dude the OP, but that's why the battle rifle work so well in competitive play, it always gave you a chance to fight back.
4. Sprint is annoying and with the maps we have now I guessing is a must, but I want a game that is different from COD and Gears. This is why I have played halo so H1. Thrust and clamber is fine and works well with halo universe.
Dude this is the post I've been waiting for on top of all the changes that they are going to make next week
Wow we had some really interesting news here

Which would be fine, if the Social matching settings are retuned so that the COMPETITIVE community doesn't infiltrate people just trying to have fun.

Why would I abandon Arena? I like the competitive game-modes!
I've played both the Arena game-modes and Warzone game-modes more than a lot of people.
The highest I've gotten is Diamond III in Slayer, meaning I'm just not very good at the game.
Just look through my Service Record, it's all there.

I know "Top Players" wanted a nerf of the AR since DAY 1. I watched Vetoed's "Cruise Control to Champion".
The problem with that is that initially, with the information given, I don't get what the problem with the AR is.

It's not easy to use the AR, there is a skill set to that weapon just like every other:
1) Burst-fire to retain accuracy at shortrange. (This is where it starts being viable instead of the magnum)
2) Longer strafes to avoid AR-fire, shorter strafes to avoid magnum shots.
3) In close quarters combat, opt for the AR.

It adds further complexity (and therefore makes for a HARDER competitive scene) to the game, not less!

Which is why:

These changes are for competitive. All weapons are remaining the same in social. I don't understand why but it seems like all social kids turn this into a "casual vs competitive" problem. It shouldn't be like that. It's like high-school girl drama. The settings that we have for competitive aren't competitive at all. They won't re-balance weapons 1.5 years into the game. If they return these weapons to ranked, it most certainly will be a new REQ version of them. However, if you want to have "fun" there's like 6 playlists in social, another 5 in ranked that don't have competitive settings at all, warzone playlists and custom stuff. So, i don't see the problem in having 1 playlists that has real competitive settings. Just ONE out of all the social stuff in H5.
