After the conclusion of HCS Worlds, a chorus of Pros have come out and made their issues with competitive Halo settings very clear.

The below two tweets from Mikwen are most damning...

"I talked to a lot of people from the design team last night. Expressed my concerns with automatics/pistol imbalance to rifles"
"It should happen. These design dudes were cool and seriously wanted to hear what I had to say. They seemed shocked by my opinions."

So, why does a Pro player have to seek out his own conversations with the design team? Why are they not monitoring social media and consistently talking with Pros? Mikwen said they seriously wanted to hear what he had to say - so why aren't they doing that on a regular basis? Are they locked in a dungeon or something?

Here's some more Pros in favour of similar changes:

Snipedown - https://twitter.com/EDWSnip3down/status/846151692731113472
"Now that worlds is over I can focus on other issues, who else wants the AR removed as a primary, Radar removed, and grenade hitmarkers gone?"

Ogre2 (in response to Snipedown) - https://twitter.com/TomRyanOGRE2/status/846152625871499264
"all 3 sounds great."

Suspector (in response to Snipedown) - https://twitter.com/Svspector/status/846158099484475392
"yessss been testing and it's seriously AMAZING"

Ryanoob (in response to Snipedown) - https://twitter.com/RyaNoobHCS/status/846156157773398016
"Completely agree. Let me know when you'd like to start testing."

Commonly (in response to Snipedown) - https://twitter.com/Commonly/status/846151960004706304
"listen to this man"

Jimbo (in response to Snipedown) - https://twitter.com/JimboGPK/status/846152043957911552

Tripppey (in response to Snipedown) - https://twitter.com/TriPPPeY/status/846151859580502016
"you said it all. PERFECT"

Ace - https://twitter.com/MLGACE/status/846572662277136384
"Idk the right settings all I'm saying is if we had the most optimal settings possible, it would be more fun, and grow the scene and game"

https://twitter.com/MLGACE/status/846567700457447424
"Talking to @Pistola_nV right now, imagine we just used pistol start, no sprint, no radar settings...think the game would grow?"

Hysteria (in response to Ace) - https://twitter.com/JacobHysteria/status/846570039872405509
"I'd play again 100%"

Vetoed - https://twitter.com/Vetoed/status/846568282769571841
"H5 is one of best games of all time when it's stripped to old school settings & the strafe is buffed but I'm confident it will never happen"

Spartan - https://twitter.com/Spartan/status/846572930171514881
"Remove:
Autos (AR, Storm, Brute, SMG)
Splinter Nades
Sprint isn't the issue with H5 at all"

The general consensus here is that Autos, Splinter Nades & Grenade Hit-markers should be removed or nerfed in competitive settings. There is some disagreement on Sprint and Radar, but that is due to uncertainty on how the game would play without these features. Further testing could be done with Pros to determine the best settings.
Love to see radar removed and an AR as a map pickup. This is a good competitive game despite HCS's aversion to competitive settings.
Agreed, i love Halo esports and would love for them to optimise the settings in this way. Hopefully at the very least proving grounds gets the go ahead as the competitive radar option. No AR starts would be great as well but i could live with it if they increased the spread and nerfed the damage a bit.

Even compromise options such as these would greatly improve the competitive scene and make HCS even more fun to watch.
I think its safe to say I had far more fun with a more "classic" type of competitive Halo settings (ie no radar, not spawning with an op auto, no sprinting, no nade hit markers) but I'm not going to say everyone feels that way. Its quite obvious that I'm not alone in that opinion however.

Exactly. Even just an open conversation at this point would suffice. Instead the Pros and community just seem to get radio silence...
Completely agree, hopefully this doesn't get locked, people forget that every halo needed huge ammount of work from mlg for competitive we have all the tools here and now, more accessible than ever and we're being shutoff.

Seriously, an open and constructive conversation with pros and the community about this would almost bring me to tears id be so happy.
The auto prevelance just isn't fun or exciting to watch or play with for that matter competitively or casualy. As far as radar goes I think if sprints has to stay then its got to be proving grounds radar.

But yeah ultimately get the consensus from the pros and adjust the settings accordingly. 343/Microsoft just pumped 1m in prize funding for worlds so do they actually care about growing this thing or don't they ?

start listening to the people that do care and have a vested interest to see this be a success and grow.

I'll be honest, I've played Halo since the beginning, playing the hell out of CE, Halo 2 & Halo 3. Wasn't a fan of Halo 4 or Reach and surprisingly now Halo 5 has become my most played game ever. This is despite skipping the Beta and purchasing the game months after launch.

I'm also a scrub Platinum/Diamond player so don't really need to have a say in the settings. I'll leave that to the pros and do my best to adapt. That being said even a lower tier player like myself can see the issues with AR, splinter nades and grenade hit markers. It's so simple, it actually scares me that 343 don't realize this.

Radar and sprint are clearly more complicated issues due to the way the game was designed, but if the majority of the competitive community wants to change this, why not let them test it out? After all, do we really need universal settings? Let each community play what they want - not some unnecessary amalgamation of settings.
I agree with OP

Is it a good competitive game? I mean when compared to something like CE. Like there's so much bullet magnetism on the weapons, the Ar can kill in like 2 seconds at 70 meters(or was that patched?), there's radar, clamber makes the jump easy and now there are no nade jumps, all the spartan abilities like clamber, charge, GP, thrust, slide and stabilizer are easy and take no skill...

Maybe it's just me, but I think that H5 is a casual friday hang out game that is uses to play million dollar tournaments.

I believe he was saying under all that there's a good game.Try the evolved settings for h5,and you'll see what I mean.

I feel like if they removed radar, AR, nade hit markers, and SPARTAN CHARGE.! It would be great.
Leave sprint, thrust, clamber, slide. I think that would be entertaining to watch and play.
No radar no splinter nades no autos I'm in
well i checked snipedowns tweet n agree, have you guys thought on testing these settings out yourself or if we should get together and do this for FFA and slayer/ctf:,strongholds.PLEASE NOTE: check the description and if you can not download map or gametypes add this gamertag DUS x SSJ4 x" a
and try to download them from the in-game friendslist in halo 5 in bookmarks i believe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u59qVS-qCHc&feature=youtu.be
This would completely change the game if they were to listen, they need to get on this!

There are a lot of people who have tested out alternative settings, however unfortunately 343 don't seem to care enough to even respond. This post was more about the fact that Pro players also want change, but are being ignored.

I can understand ignoring small groups of fans, however the pro players are attempting to make a living off Halo and NEED to have a say in settings, just like all other Esports.
It's actually very frustrating that they keep ignoring this comments, even when they tag 343 members on twitter or when people talk about this on reddit halo. Even here, where is 343's response to this? What are they waiting for? Halo 6?

They already ran a poll among pros for HCS settings and they just ignored the results.
