Gifting packs from the Xbox store (You can do it)

OP Kai C Summers

If you buy a pack from the Xbox store can you then gift it to other players or are you stuck with it? I ask this because I'm trying to gift the Classic Helmet Pack to 2 of my clan members but since i can't see a gift option on the store I'm unsure if I'll be able to once I've got it.

When you purchase it with funds; it should appear (after a bit) in your unopened pack sections. From there you should be able to send it to someone on your friends list. This should apply to golds and most of (if not all) the specialty packs.
The amount of REQ's that I've saved up...I'm more surprised I can't just send a gold pack to a friend since I have too many REQ's saved up so friends that started playing won't have to deal with the P2W system as much in Warzone.

They did address the reasons for this when they launched gifting, basically to prevent it being exploited. There's a community update from around that time that explains it in more detail

In his defense, i can get 1mil RP a month, I myself could have 20+ of any Hannibal while some of my friends are struggling getting the default DMR at level 130. I could easily get my friends the DMR or halo 2 BR if I can gift them gold packs through REQs. Hell I would settle for gifting golds to be 20,000 RP, while golds for myself remain at 10,000. Also it wouldn’t break any in game economy, you can’t buy RP, you HAVE to play games to get it, so for people who have 7mil RP or what have you saved up. Good for them! They played the game for those! If they want to spend 6mil RP on their friends so their friends won’t be a disadvantage in Warzone then let them.

Why can't i gift other REQ packs or gold packs purchased with RP?

We know players who have amassed massive stockpiles of RP would love nothing more than to help spread that love amongst their friends but after reviews with the Xbox Live Enforcement Team, studying examples of similar systems in the wild and consulting a variety of experts, concerns over a multitude of potential scams and exploits led to the decision to limit this new feature to real-money transactions only. Further, Gold Pack Gifting is only available to players once they’ve reached Spartan Rank 5 or greater in Halo 5: Guardians.

They won't let players gift with points because then players could create a black market for packs. Then there would be a headache of possibly players taking money and not giving the packs and players would then blame 343 and it would turn into a mess.

I have nine Platinum packs... If we match in a game send me a quick message in game saying I see you or something (so I can verify we did match) and a friend request so I can gift you a pack. You don't have to keep me as a "friend" as I am a solo player.

How is that different than now when people advertise for 50¢ or 1$ gold packs? In Warzone games, it’s rare but I’ve came across it twice.

I have never seen any one trying to sell gold packs. But I suppose there will always be scammers around. There would probably be a lot more if gifting with req points were added into the game.

I only tried with another pack so I don’t see why not? Once you buy it should appear in your un opened section and from there you should be able to gift it? I’d buy a gold pack first just in case you don’t wanna spend 20 bucks for nothing

I’ll agree that there will be more scammers, but I still feel that the option to help your friends through the req system would make more people happy. (Or upset that it’s added so late in the game)

I feel like I've mentioned this before...

I seriously doubt the reason 343 claims it's down to just 'exploiting' since gifting gold packs means 343i loses money, it wouldn't be much of a exploitation since most of us are now already over-saturated with items/REQ's by playing the game normally and would be able to gift people so many REQ's that 343i would lose plenty of money on the whole micro-transactions scheme that is plaguing modern games, it certainly be a good way to show 343i that a lot of us tired of the gambling system that is ruining games like SWB2/H5.

The only reason any gamer might think this is ok to exploit is to unlock armours faster because grinding REQ's for a chance to get an item is tiresome, unfair...I miss the days of actually earning them instead of farming REQ's/Commendations.

The only difference is P2W partly would struggle against long term gamers because we're more likely want to help against P2W gamers due to the amount of resources saved would probably out-weight the average gamer wasting real money on packs. In fact 343i only want the game exploited to favour the gamers that want to cheat to get ahead, sadly 343i seem to be ok with this, in a way I feel like the 'house always wins' in a casino, there's nothing we can do about it.
Have you spoken to MS legal recently ronnie? Because I can guarantee they had a hand in this decision. Avoiding exploits is absolutely a valid reason.

Don't fall prey to sleazy online jerks. Bungie will NEVER ask you to disclose your password.
