Potential Updates To The Halo 5 Armory

OP RamboBambiBambo

Halo MCC has been receiving updates to the game, many of which have made the game much more fun to play by fixing connection issues and adding in new assets. Plenty of those new assets were additions to the Armories and allowing players to mix-&-match their player armor like they could in Halo 4.

Could such an update come around to Halo 5 Guardians?
Because honestly, Halo 5 had an armory that expanded its contents but was also a step back. No longer could you mix-&-match your entire setup, instead having to choose your helmet and then your full body.

I propose that we be allowed to customize our Spartan IVs in Halo 5 like we can customize our Spartan IIs in Halo 3 MCC. Allow us to mix-&-match. Let us choose our Spartan's :
  • Techsuit (We all can use Default, but Fireteam Osiris has 4 Techsuits that you cannot use in-game.)
  • Helmet
  • Torso
  • L. Shoulder
  • R. Shoulder
  • Gauntlets
  • Legs
  • Visor Color
This would make it all the more meaningful if players were able to mix-&-match their armor set pieces, even allowing them to choose which shoulder armor they had on their left and right shoulders when it came to selecting a shoulder piece from an asymmetrical armor set (Equipping Wrath's L. Shoulder on the R. Shoulder for example).

I would also recommend the addition of new armor set pieces. Plenty of Halo 4 armor sets and the Halo 2 Anniversary armor sets didn't make it into Halo 5 for some reason or another. Possibly time constriants?
  • Centurion from H2 Anniversary (I recommend renaming it to Vexillarius since Halo 5 Guardians already has a Centurion armor design.)
  • E.O.D. Gen-II from Halo 4
  • Hoplite from Halo 2 Anniversary
  • HAZOP Gen-II from Halo 4
  • Nightfall from Halo 5's Multiplayer Beta (https://preview.redd.it/k79kuf6h77451.png?auto=webp&s=a19d3e6ecb1bece564f2c4b776d71676355c5cf9)
  • Oceanic from Halo 4
  • ODST from Halo 4
  • Mark V from Halo 4
  • Prefect from Halo 4
  • Ricochet from Halo 4 (Possibly reduce the size of the shoulder pauldrons, they are a bit too big. Keep their shape, just reduce their scale.)
  • Vanguard from Halo 4
There is also ample opportunity to add in new armor sets as in the form of some Halo Online armor sets being recreated in Halo 5's engine. Perhaps even bring the cut armor set of Hayabusa that was planned for Halo 4, fully rendered, but never implemented for some reason or another. Plus, not to forget, the Gen-I Helmets Pack only featured 9 of the Gen-I helmets available from the series. I propose that more helmets be added to the game to unlock. Namely :
    • A.K.I.S. Gen-I (Halo Reach's A.K.I.S._CBRN variant)
    • Argus Gen-I
    • Aviator Gen-I (Halo 3's Hornet Pilot Marine NPC's helmet)
    • Barvo Helmet (Yes, this was actually made canon : https://www.halopedia.org/BARVO-class_Mjolnir)
    • Centurion Gen-I
    • C.Q.C. Gen-I (Halo Reach's C.Q.C._UA/HUL variant)
    • HAZOP Gen-I (Halo Reach's HAZOP helmet equipped with the CBRN rebreather)
    • Hellbringer Helmet (The helmet featured in Halo Wars 2's Morgan Kisano commander artwork)
    • Hermes Gen-I
    • J.F.O. Gen-I (Halo Reach's J.F.O._HUL-I variant)
    • Mark V Bravo (Halo Reach's Mark V_UA variant)
  • Mark V Charlie (Halo Reach's MJOLNIR Mk.V helmet)
  • Mariner Gen-I (Halo Reach's Mariner helmet)
  • ODST Gen-I (Halo Reach's ODST_UA/CNM variant)
  • ODST Advanced (Halo 2 Anniversary's ODST helmet)
  • ODST Colonial Guard (cut ODST NPC from Halo 5. The helmet would be nice to have in game : https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/covers/images/011/094/174/large/alex-j-cunningham-h5-odst-artstation-thumbs.jpg?1527809533)
  • ODST Buck (Buck's helmet from Halo 3 ODST)
  • ODST Dutch (Dutch's helmet from Halo 3 ODST)
  • ODST Mickey (Mickey's helmet from Halo 3 ODST)
  • ODST Romeo (Romeo's helmet from Halo 3 ODST. It would be also cool if whenever you aim-down-sights, the helmet's attachment slides over the visor)
  • ODST/TAC (Ethan Graves' helmet)
  • ODST/COMM (Marcus Hudson's helmet)
  • ODST/HVY (Victor Ramos' helmet)
  • ODST/DEMO (Ava Lang's helmet)
  • ONI Recon (Veronica Dare's helmet)
  • Nightfall Sedra (The helmet worn by the Sedran Colonial Guard ODST characters in the Halo Nightfall movie)
  • Ranger Gen-I (Ranger helmet technically has a Gen-I origin. I propose a new design is in order.)
  • Raider Gen-I (Raider helmet technically has a Gen-I origin. I propose the Crimson Visor helmet in the bottom-center of the image at the end of this list.)
  • Rogue Gen-I (Halo 3's Rogue helmet)
  • Scanner Alt (A variant of the Scanner helmet where the forehead attachment has been removed, allowing players to have full view of the visor.)
  • Scout Gen-I (Halo 3's Scout helmet)
  • Strider Gen-I (Strider helmet technically has a Gen-I origin. I propose the Blue Visor helmet in the bottom left of this image in the link below)
  • Venator Gen-I (Venator helmet technically has a Gen-I origin. I propose the Silver Visor helmet in the bottom right of this image in the link below.)

Another nice thing to be added to the Halo 5 Guardians armory would be the shoulders, gauntlets, and legs that were designed in concept art for Argonaut, Maverick, and Vector. The concept art shows that they all had their own unique designs; but the final release of Halo 5 has merely recycled EVA and Scout armor pieces for the fully bodies of these armor sets when chosen for selection. Perhaps we could also get the Playercard Stances that were in Halo 4 but not moved to Halo 5 for some reason?

Maybe we should be allowed to have a Primary and Secondary color option added to our Techsuit so we no longer have to have our Armor's Primary and Secondary Colors applied to the undersuit?

Perhaps all the alternate paintjobs of Halo 4 could be moved over to Halo 5 as well, increasing the amount of color potential players have to use?

Anyone else like what I am recommending here? Because I believe that we fans would just adore to have these as options added into the roster of Halo 5. Not to mention, it would also be a smart business investment by 343, considering that people would buy more REQ packs if there was more to unlock.

A nice bonus would be the addition of a Legendary Completion unlock. In Halo 4, you unlocked Mark VI Gen-II if u beat it on Legendary. Why not have it so if u beat Halo 5 Guardians on Legendary, you unlock a replica of John-S117's Mark VI MOD armor, calling it Mythic-Class MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor? Fans would definitely love playing matches cosplaying John, Fred, Kelly, and Linda. It would also be funny if they ended up facing off against a team of Locke, Buck, Vale, and Tanaka impersonators.

Thoughts anyone?

EDIT :
I would like to point out the reason as to why I have SO many ODST helmet variants. The answer is simple and twofold.
I love Halo 3 ODST.
And I noticed that most of the clan-boys LOVE to have ODST armor setpieces in their clan uniforms, so I figure the more variety they have the better. Especially if they want to customize their armor for their roles. Sniper specialist? Wear the ODST Romeo helmet. Close Quarters specialist? Don the ODST Dutch or ODST/HVY helmets.

It potentially could, but it comes down to time and resources - both of which the team doesn't have to devote towards Halo 5. Those required to do the work you mentioned are heads down on Infinite right now, I don't see it likely that any work would be done to Halo 5 after Infinite launches (outside of maybe getting help to bring it to PC).

MCC is in a unique situation due to the bad launch experience it had and the small team that got the go ahead to start work on rebuilding it again.
It's impossibile in my opinion but i have to say it would be cool having some new stuff
It would definitely be awesome if they did, I’m not a huge fan of my options when it comes to armors and helmets, or even the lack of color options... unfortunately stickrboy hit the nail on the head, 343 has decided that MCC was a more important fix than adding updates to halo 5. The only thing halo 5 will get as this point is the rotational playlists, req pack rotations and maybe they might do some xp events as we get closer to an infinite release.

It should be noted that since they’re doing some HCS stuff this summer, we may have the opportunity to get some stuff from that... but it’s a toss up...
I am seeing very valid points in the comments here, but I would like to reaffirm that if 343 does someday port Halo 5 to PC, the PC Bois are going to request the game get some upgrades in every department; including this one.

It is also a smart action to perform from the business perspective, given that I am a level 45 on H5G and I have every armor in the game (save for Achilles, Olive, and the pre-order paintjob of Hunter). There is no reason for me to buy a REQ-Pack. I love the fact that H5G has a lootbox system that is 1000x better than any other lootbox system because there are no duplicates of your cosmetics. But if there were more armors to unlock, players would either want to buy more REQ packs OR be more invested in using those Req-Point boost cards that we keep getting from packs. I mean, what is the point of using such cards if you have the entire armory's contents? It is smart from a business perspective AND would please many of the fans who want more stuff in the armory and at least the means to mix-and-match the armors like we used to in Halo 4.

Besides, if they had just added the armor sets that were not carried over from Halo 4 and Halo 2 Anniversary for some reason or another, we would have Centurion (which I recommend to be renamed to Vexillarius), E.O.D. + E.O.D. Shadow, HAZOP + HAZOP Frost, Hopllite, Oceanic + Oceanic Circuit + Oceanic Solid, ODST, Mark V, Prefect, Ricochet + Ricochet Hometeam, and then Vangaurd + Vanguard Converge. It is honestly strange that these armor sets did not make it from Halo 4 to Halo 5. Heck, we got the EOD Gen-I Helmet in Halo 5 but not EOD Gen-II's entire set? KInda strange.

The other Gen-I helmets I mentioned above could be added to other Gen-I Helmet packs, such as Gen-I Helmets 2, ODST Specializations Req Pack. Sure it would take some effort to recreate the armor sets in the Halo 5 engine, but the profits would outweigh the costs all the while we palyers get to reap the benefits of having more to obtain. Once you have just about every cosmetic in the game, I have found that a lot of us stagnate and go "I have everything, so why bother playing this if there is nothing more to unlock?" I think that was likely the other reason new armors were added to the game post-launch, adding more stuff to get while players get more to do in the game.

You're forgetting all the usable items that people pull out in warzone, and boosts that people would use on any type of match (area/warzone), not to mention the powerups and armor mods. With Turbo ever month, I'm sure I'm not the only person here who plows through there reqs and starts running low on things. Sooo, just before the next turbo, I go on a spending spree and blow through almost 1m RP. Plus, since I use a boost on every match I play, I run low on those as well (another reason to stock up on reqs). Reqs aren't just for the armors and customization, they have usables in there too, and people do run out. It's not like people finish unlocking everything and never touch a single req pack ever again, they still need them. I'm all in favor of adding some better customization options to 5, I think the current selection is pretty bad (the helmets especially). And while some of the emblems are pretty cool, a few more awesome looking ones couldn't possibly hurt.
