Looks like the halo universal binary is no longer useful for macs.. my research says that the only way to play multiplayer at this point in time is to bootcamp my mac and play the pc version :(James060394 wrote:It doesn’t sound like you’ve fully patched it with the latest update. Have a look at this thread and video, made in November 2017, he shows how to update to the latest version as well as the MP servers still running post Gamespy shutoff for the Mac version.martyguay wrote:Awesome thanks. So I installed it (I had to go through my apps and select the installed halo) It went through it's thing and "successfully installed" but when I open up multiplayer, the gamespy servers still have a loading error. Someone on this thread said it has to be manually installed. That may be my problem.. How is that done?Jestzer wrote:Oh duh, right. Try this.martyguay wrote:I think this one is for the PC! ..unfortunately I'm running the Macsoft versionJestzer wrote:Right here!martyguay wrote:Where do i get this patch?Jestzer wrote:Yes, although you have to install the patch manually.James060394 wrote:You only need the CD to install the game. Once you install the latest patch, the CD requirement is removed if i recall correctly.martyguay wrote:Yeah, obviously! lol. I had the xbox back in 2001 but i no longer do so I want to play on my laptop..James060394 wrote:Only thing the OG Xbox version has over PC is Co-op and split-screen. PC/Mac still has online multiplayer (supported by Bungie to this day), modding community, extra fan-made campaigns, 60fps, higher resolutions etc.Cstriker01 wrote:uhh... get it on Xbox? i think that is the most readily available method. but i have a friend who has it in PC it think he said it is ok but not as good as on Xbox.
It’s preference and he is asking about the Mac version. I am sure he knows about the Xbox version, as do the majority here so rather than telling him what to buy, help add to the discussion.
I have another question- I got the game off of eBay but I don't have a CD drive so I am going to use an external CD drive to install the game. My question is do you know if I need the CD connected at all times or can I unplug the CD drive once it is installed?
