Welcome to the dedicated feedback thread for MCC on Xbox.
  • Campaign Feedback
  • Multiplayer Feedback
  • Firefight Feedback
  • Misc/Other Feedback
The purpose of this thread is to gather suggestions or general feedback related to MCC on Xbox. When posting, please include as much detail as possible to include:
  • MCC HALO GAME: please specify which game within MCC you're providing feedback for
  • FEEDBACK: please be as detailed as possible.
  • ADDITIONAL INFO: If you have a screenshot, game clip, or other supporting material, please provide the link in your post.
For all technical issues, please make sure to head on over to Halo Support site and find out if it is a known issue. If not, please submit a ticket
  • MCC HALO GAME: Halo 2 classic
  • FEEDBACK: There are numerous graphical inconsistencies between MCC Halo 2 classic and legacy Halo 2, particularly in regard to (but not limited to) broken/bugged lighting during cutscenes, as well as missing snow and dust particle effects.
  • ADDITIONAL INFO: I've made several side-by-side screenshot comparisons (which I've linked below) between legacy Halo 2 and MCC Halo 2 classic that demonstrate exactly what I'm talking about. A lot of these issues are pretty self-explanatory, but I'll provide a brief explanation for the differences that are more subtle.
ISSUE 1: https://imgur.com/Ym6ScIZ

ISSUE 2: https://imgur.com/DE1eZcB

ISSUE 3: https://imgur.com/Ih82Eq1

ISSUE 4: https://imgur.com/5LsK8Ay

ISSUE 5: https://imgur.com/W8WaHON

ISSUE 6: https://imgur.com/R2GT0xr

ISSUE 7: https://imgur.com/SAHjdan This is difficult to show in a still screenshot, but as the elevator moves down the shaft, dynamic lighting is meant to be repeatedly cast on and off of Chief during this scene. This effect is absent in MCC.

ISSUE 8: https://imgur.com/5RjFm2X Note the difference in how dense the glow effect is for the Phantom gravity lifts. It's difficult to do a comparison in game, but this appears to be an issue during both gameplay and cutscenes. Additionally, during the intro cut-scene for the mission "Delta Halo", the projectiles being fired at the drop pods by shade turrets seem to have a similar problem. They're smaller and have less of a glow to them when compared to legacy Halo 2. I don't know if this is caused by the same underlying issue or not, but it's similar.

ISSUE 9: https://imgur.com/IcM6yT3 Look at the Covenant Carrier in the background, as well as its glassing beam (I don't know what the proper name for it is). It's difficult to tell whether the Carrier is smaller in MCC or farther away, but it's certainly not correct.

ISSUE 10: https://imgur.com/koIeGFH In MCC, the surface of Tartarus's face, particularly his forehead, does not appear to be as reflective, or "shiny" if you will, as it is in legacy Halo 2. I have compared several different scenes, and this issue persists across all of them, so this is not caused by an issue with the lighting in one particular scene. Rather, it seems to be an issue with the character model for Tartarus. I don't know whether this issue effects Tartarus's appearance in-game while you're fighting him at the end of the mission "The Great Journey," but I imagine it would since Halo 2 classic cinematics are in-engine and use the same character models that are used during game-play.

ISSUE 11: https://imgur.com/o6qPN3g Note the difference in lighting/shading inside the elevator.

Before I continue: There are a few issues I haven't made screenshot comparisons for because they're too difficult to demonstrate without seeing the game in motion. So instead, I've linked timestamps of YouTube videos that show areas of the game where these issues occur. For each issue, I'll post a link that shows a particular area in legacy Halo 2 first, to show what that part of the game is supposed to look like. Then I'll post a link that shows that same area in MCC Halo 2 classic, where you'll hopefully be able to see the issue that I'm referring to.

I should note that although the video I'm using for all of the MCC links is more than a year old, all of these issues are still present in the current MCC build.

ISSUE 12: The atmospheric dust particles that appear in the missions "The Arbiter" and "The Oracle" in legacy Halo 2 are completely missing from MCC Halo 2 classic.

-Here's some footage of the starting area for the level "The Arbiter" in legacy Halo 2:
https://youtu.be/Bq1ccLz5xUg?t=14

-Now here's the same area in MCC Halo 2 classic:
https://youtu.be/JuqhLD6nfjU?t=4543

You should notice the white dust particles floating through the air close to the player in the legacy footage, and the absence of them in the MCC footage. This issue effects the entirety of "The Arbiter" and "The Oracle," during all outdoor sections of these missions.

By the way, the video I chose here for legacy Halo 2 is actually running through emulation on the Xbox 360, because the footage was clearer than any original Xbox footage I could find, and the dust particles were a little hard to see otherwise. So it's not original hardware, and I'm aware that the 360's emulation isn't perfect, but none of that effects this particular part of the game. The dust particle effects are exactly the same here on the 360 as they are on the original Xbox. I'll use original Xbox footage for all the other issues below.

ISSUE 13: Close-range snow particles that appear in the campaign levels "Sacred Icon" and "Quarantine Zone," as well as in the multiplayer map "Lockout" in legacy Halo 2 are completely missing from MCC Halo 2 classic.

-Here's some footage from the mission "Quarantine Zone" in legacy Halo 2:
https://youtu.be/c7oA-FaHdJ0?t=2410

-Now here's the same area in MCC Halo 2 classic:
https://youtu.be/JuqhLD6nfjU?t=13259

-Additionally, here's some footage of a cutscene later on in the same mission in legacy Halo 2:
https://youtu.be/c7oA-FaHdJ0?t=2491

-And now the same cutscene in MCC Halo 2 classic:
https://youtu.be/JuqhLD6nfjU?t=13399

Be sure to watch the cutscene for about twenty seconds or so for both videos. As you'll see, the MCC version looks way off without the snow. This issue effects the entirety of "Sacred Icon," "Quarantine Zone," and the multiplayer map "Lockout," during all outdoor areas of these levels.

ISSUE 14: The small "Flood particles" (I guess that's what I'll call them) that appear during the epilogue cutscene in legacy Halo 2 are completely absent from the same cutscene in MCC Halo 2 classic.

Here's the cutscene in legacy Halo 2:
https://youtu.be/c7oA-FaHdJ0?t=8710

And here's the same cutscene in MCC:
https://youtu.be/JuqhLD6nfjU?t=19776

Considering this is the third issue I've found that involves missing particle effects, there's a decent chance there could be more throughout Halo 2 that I haven't noticed. I don't really have time to compare every part of the game to legacy Halo 2, but this is something that should probably be investigated further. The same also goes for the issues involving broken/incorrect lighting during cutscenes. I wouldn't be shocked if there were more of those as well, considering how many I found in just the first few levels of the game

ISSUE 15: This one is specific to the outro cutscene for the mission "Cairo Station." In legacy Halo 2, when Chief is on the elevator transporting the bomb he just disarmed, there is a shot of the elevator moving through the elevator shaft. The elevator cart itself has a flashing red light on the top, which continues to flash for the duration of the shot as the elevator moves down. This shot is initially the same on MCC, but as the elevator moves down, the red light stops flashing and turns off part way through the shot.

-Here's the scene in legacy Halo 2:
https://youtu.be/siUVajh275g?t=1560.

-Now here's the same scene in MCC:
https://youtu.be/JuqhLD6nfjU?t=1650.

If you continue watching past this part in both of the videos, you can see several of the other issues I've already mentioned above (the ones I made screenshot comparisons for).

ISSUE 16: Cinematic letterboxing is missing from MCC Halo 2 classic cutscenes, as well as in-game chapter titles. The previous two links I posted serve as a good comparison for this issue.
This is A list of issues me and my friends have encountered. We love playing MCC, and we want to see the best for it. Thank you for the hard work and fixing MCC.
-losing all private files mysteriously pre transfer of legacy files of maps and game type files.
-as of 3/30/2020 I noticed every single file from the legacy transfer of maps and game types were deleted mysteriously from MCC file share.
-MCC reach hit detention is inconsistent. (DMR is a 5 shot weapon, why is it taking 8 shots? Why do I die by 3 shots?)
-getting "connection to host error" messages in a supposedly dedicated server.
-getting "selecting new host" messages on a supposedly dedicated server.
-in halo 2, and halo: CE mainly in BTB slayer, swat Spawning with enemy players. General spawn fixes for other halo games.
-loading in games with the pause menu up
-map rotation, its nulling playing the same 3 maps over and over when there's over 100-200 maps to play.
-skill based matchmaking.
-glitch where achievements aren't earned upon completing missions.
Sometimes would get kicked from games here and there but not often
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo 4 all still have performance issues on the Xbox One X in both campaign and multiplayer. No matter if there is a break in combat, or if I am jumping into the fray, the performance plummets and has been doing so ever since the March update. Before it was running 60 frames much more consistently.

A great example of this performance drop can be seen immediately when playing on the campaign level named Outskirts in Halo 2 Anniversary, and when playing the campaign level named Infinity in Halo 4. Other levels vary in poor performance, but the poor performance is still prevalent even if it's just for a few seconds; it is too often to be playable.

Also, there is a bug on the Halo 3 level named The Ark at the very beginning when you are about to encounter the Covenant, one of the ODSTs tells you to take the first shot, but the itchy trigger finger will get the best of one of the ODSTs and he will open fire before you take the first shot. The Covenant will not react until you fire your first shots, making the engagement seem ridiculous and even less than what it was originally.

I have submitted a ticket two weeks ago about the performance on the Xbox version, but the performance is still poor. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the entire Halo MCC, but nothing has changed in performance.

Any new news on this issue or is it all just dust and echos.....

343 has a fix planned for the performance issues, you mentioned. It was mentioned in the March Dev. Blog which you can find on here.
  • MCC HALO GAME: Halo: Reach
  • FEEDBACK: There are numerous amounts people in the community who want a Halo: Reach 2v2 Slayer ranked playlist with the current MLG/Team Hardcore settings
  • ADDITIONAL INFO: I have spoken with many gamers and have received a ton feedback/messages on my xbox live account about recent posts (2-3 days) I have made about MCC implementing a Halo Reach 2v2 ranked playlist with the current Halo Reach Team Hardcore settings. We could replace either the large 8v8 ranked invasion/team slayer/team hardcore. Tons of gamers want to see this happen. 2v2's are the most fun and active playlists. Especially with a game like Halo Reach.
Lets make it happen!

-Steady
The past 2 weeks of featured playlists have been things that are already readily available to play in MCC (SWAT/Mayhem). This kind of defeats the purpose of a "featured playlist" in my opinion. Can we get some new things please? Maybe like Elite Slayer, something similar to the Yappening or Winter Contingency events, or some Forge creations like Race and Castle Wars. Just give people a reason to try certain game categories besides the fact that its "featured".
Aea mano no más voy a decir
  • MCC HALO GAME: Halo: Reach
  • FEEDBACK: Armor effects such as Legendary, Inclement Weather, Pestilence etc do not appear on Elites in the UI or in game. This has been a big since launch.
  • ADDITIONAL INFO: There's no reason this should have gone unnoticed from launch, it was in the original game and is a huge part of diversity to players who choose to play as Elites.
Ranked lists need to be restarted, WITHOUT LOSING YOUR "CURRENT HIGHEST RANK" in your player details. If someone has a 50, with the reset don't lose it, it's not fair, if you get another 50 that appears in your player details
why are we starting another feedback thread? the last thread was overwhelming in people mentioning the Xbox one x performance issues. anything else is secondary. let's fix one issue at a time please. 343 needs to fix one issue at a time as they are not great at (patches/updates) one issue at a time please. framerate issues on the Xbox one/Xbox one x on halo3.

Every month they start a new feedback thread. They catalog all the feedback for each one, so nothing in the last one is being thrown out. I think they just want to keep the size of each one manageable, as well as up to date. Otherwise there'd be one giant thread that starts with feedback from two years ago that has since been addressed, which could lead to confusion for those who don't look at the dates.
  • Will the Race Gametype ever make an appearance? You've used it on both Halo Reach & Halo 4.
  • Will you ever allow for more custom maps to make it into the rotation for new maps in the playlists? Most everyone knows the default maps by heart.
  • Please raise the private files cap from 50 to 500+. Shouldn't be fair that those of us with creativity/inspiration have to not save the map or delete old ones just because we've reached the 50 file limit. Both OG Halo 3 & OG Reach both allowed for files to be added until your hard drive was full. Why not do the same?
  • Suggestion: Please add private file pairing. What i mean by this is connecting a gametype with a map so that when we load it up in custom, we don't have to search for both of them.

Both ideas are bad. No one cares about your old 50 and there's no reason to reset the ranks at all.

No, it's not a bad idea, the ranked lists are dead :)

need to be reset, remove invasion, put H2A ranked, giga is the typical guy who doesn't want to lose his 50 haha

the ranked lists if they need to be restarted everyone knows most of them are dead, it's Master chief collection, no halo 3 collection , should have more variety the ranked lists h2a, h4 , invasion ranked? lol

IT'S NOT A BAD IDEA
I’d like to see more variety to the Ranked playlists. I commented on the March thread about the population in some of the social playlists like SWAT, Snipes, team obj, even H4. Matchmaking times are generally quite quick and I know from personal experience from people that I play with that if we had these in a ranked playlist it would be more enjoyable.

Can we get some of these added to ranked or even more ranked playlists?
