MCC game: Halo 2 A/ Halo 2

Issue: no sound when playing the game. (Cutscenes have sound, game play does not)
Hi, All campaigns continue to have frame rate issues or connection issues when playing co-op. I have tried with lots of players. All players have open NAT and stable Internet. Whoever is hosting the game has no issues, mostly. It don't matter who the host is. It always lags into a delay or complete slow motion mode for any other players connecting to the host. I have tried switching hosts, players, xboxs and locations and still this problem happens.

Hopefully this information is of use to help sort the problem.

Thanks for the continued updates.
MCC HALO GAME: Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary
ISSUE/FEEDBACK: Upon death or a reverting to last checkpoint, the music will switch to the original regardless of setting when hosting.
REPRO STEPS: When hosting a Halo 1 mission, ensure that the music is set to Anniversary. Either die or revert to last checkpoint.
ADDITIONAL INFO: N/A
On halo 3 the mission "halo" when you walk in the snow it trails giant muddy footprints [when playing co-op campaign] • also there is still a delay (for the co-op partner) when playing campaign.
  • MCC HALO GAME: Halo 4
  • ISSUE/FEEDBACK: Flames in the wreckage of the Dawn at the begining of the level Requiem near the top wall where you progress through to the warthogs are glitches showing large red pixles instead of flames.
  • REPRO STEPS: Start mission.
  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Does not happen in Halo 4 on 360 or retail MCC.
I can verify that this is the case. It's as you approach the debris that has made a sort of bridge above you which then leads to the cave section if I'm reading your description correctly. Apologies if not.

This has been brought up once before I see, but not in too great a detail, so I'll elaborate as I've also spotted more examples of this on the same level. All these examples only happen when you get quite close to the fire.
  1. As soon as the level begins turn around 180 immediately. You'll see two fires on the left and right. The left fire is obscuring a second fire behind it which has the pixel issues.
  2. From the start turn right immediately and circle round the edge of the area until you get to the large piece of wreckage, where you can see the elite staggering towards you before he dies. On the ground in front of you to the right you'll see the pixel fire.
  3. Once you have a Warthog and start heading through the wreckage again, after the first small jump, you'll see that ALL the fires here except the first one seem to have the pixel issue.
  4. After the next jump, again ALL the fires here have the same issue.
  5. After the next small jump, there is a single fire on the left and another around the corner on the right with the issue.
  6. Once you get to the final large jump, on the right hand side near the top you'll see a single fire with the issue.
I've checked the retail MCC version for each example and none of them are present.

Can I also add, whilst I'm here, that there are a lot of ground textures popping in when you're driving on this level. Small pebbles on the crowd, small fauna etc. It's very noticeable and again not in the retail MCC.
The game crashes when i play a campaign for so long. For example, i play Halo 2 from the start to Delta Halo, the game freeze and crash when i get inside the energy bridge building to activate it and the game would restart on it's own, but this time, it's not just the game but the console also shutted down after the game froze while playing Halo 2, agian, from the start to Delta Halo in the bridge building, while playing the insider program. I've learned to deal with this but i hope it can be fixed.
  • Halo 2/2a
  • Feature Request
  • Adding subtitles in-game. Only cutscenes have subtitles in Halo 2 (and perhaps other titles but I haven't looked). Having subtitles for in-game dialogue would really improve the experience for players with hearing difficulties and those who just prefer to have subtitles on.
Could anyone tell me is the coop campaign desynching issue where 2 players in coop in h1/2 are split into basically 2 separate lobbies will be fixed in the first patch? Or one of the following ones? It would be nice if it was fixed immediately because nothing is more irritating than playing on legendary or trying to get a par time and it splits 2 people apart, it’s literally game breaking. Would appreciate a response thank you
  • MCC HALO GAME: Halo 2 Anniversary
  • ISSUE/FEEDBACK: Performance on One X in split screen when using the new graphics is pretty bad. I am not sure if it's frame drops or frame pacing but there's constant noticeable judder.
  • REPRO STEPS: It's actually hard to find a place where this DOESN'T happen, at least in the first 5 missions.
  • ADDITIONAL INFO: The game is perfectly fluid when switching to traditional graphics
I've been biting my tongue because this is only a beta after all, but I'm starting to grow concerned by the performance on the 1X as it's almost exactly the same now as the original retail versions performance on the One S.

I literally bought the One X just to iron out the performance issues in the MCC, and pushing the collection to 4k seems to have put it right back to where it was. It even removed the added texture filtering the One X enables for free.

So at the moment I'm not happy with the performance in Halo 2's single player and it's unplayable in splitscreen for me.
I'd gladly take a locked framerate over 4k and an unstable one.

I know this is the bug section, so I'll delete this and paste it in the correct section if there is one. I just want to draw attention to the performance because it's a big concern at the moment.
After testing one mission for each game I’ve came with a few pros and cons of my experience playing these missions on an Xbox One X. I’ll try to make this as structured and easy to read as possible to avoid any confusion. Below are some of my thoughts as well as feelings of each Halo Game as a whole.

Halo Ce:

Mission - The Silent Cartographer

Pros - Visuals looked gorgeous in 4K and seeing Halo for the first time in a higher resolution put a smile on my face. 343 did an amazing job with the updated art and sound mixing without straying too far from the source material.

Cons - Framerate and screen tearing can still be an issue along with what could be a lighting glitch which causes flickering from the shadows. This could be because the engine is running at such a higher resolution and more detailed assets than it could have ever originally handle. Also the voices can be a tad bit on the quiet side as well as the weapons and effects being much much more louder than it used to. But in all honesty it is kind of bad -Yoink- to have the Halo theme blaring in my headset as my assault rifle booms and rips and tears the convenant apart lol.

Halo 2:

Mission - Delta Halo

Pros - Halo 2 has never looked as good as before with the complimented anniversary graphics and remade sound effects and music that I have to give again 343 props on the job they did here. It really is phenomenal what a passionate group of developers can do when put up to the task of updating one of the greatest shooters, or should I say, greatest games of all time. Now Blur needs some praise as well for giving some of the best damn cutscenes I have ever witnessed in an exclusive title before. Recreating them from the ground up was definitely the best choice here because it gave them the freedom to make already iconic cutscenes into even more bad -Yoink-, adrenaline fueled, head banging, pulse elevating, epic moments when they were first witnessed all of those years ago.

Cons - As with Halo Ce: the frame rate and screen tearing is still plaguing in this as well. While not as frequent or as bad as in the original release of MCC, and can still be quite an eyesore when the graphics are so freaking beautiful. I have also noticed the same sound issues here as well. The voices are quiet while everything else is ear drum bursting loud. And the music in the classic graphics are about as loud as a mouse during Sunday church. I definitely think a little bit more polish needs to go into this title because it’s so close to being perfect that it would be a shame if these issues weren’t eventually fixed. These are the definitive editions and they need to be just that, definite. Also one thing that’s more of a request than an issue is that I would really love to see the terminals play in the actual game rather than The Halo Channel. The Halo Channel has given me issues since it first came out and I’ve never enjoyed having to go there just to watch a short video. Halo waypoint definitely needs to be brought to Xbox One as the go to halo app on console.

Halo 3:

Mission - The Covenant

Pros - Now this is where it starts to get easy to say nothing but good things about this game rather than negative details. Halo 3 as of right now in the preview is well, perfectly normal. The bump in resolution really does bring the finer details of the environment and enemies and makes it day and night compared to the 360 version I played in my youth. The frame rate is smooth except for the occasional checkpoint hitch but that’s been around for as long as Halo Ce. It’s hard to say anything bad about this really because I couldn’t find anything that was out of the ordinary so A+ 343.

Cons - Can’t really blame the game for being over 10 years old but some of the textures are a little muddy and shadows can flicker on occasion. Now only if there was some way to fix this... Cough* Halo 3 Anniversary Cough*

Halo 4:

Mission - Infinity

Pros - Soooo this game looks freaking stunning, like, I remember it dropping my jaw when I first played it on my 360 because of how good it looked for a console that was nearing the end of its life span. And now running at 4K it did the exact same thing to me. It made my jaw drop yet again. Halo 4 was a strange beast and controversial when it first came out because of how much it tried to change things. But for me, the campaign was always solid and the story really drawed me in and I wanted to know what was next for Chief after that cliffhanger ending in Halo 3. For their first time making a Halo game from the ground up, 343 definitely did some good and some bad as you would expect on someone’s very first try at a previously established iconic franchise.

Cons - Now this is what’s splitting me as of right now, the mission that I’ve played features dense foliage and effects that seem to be very limited on the 360. This is because every step I take in the jungle the plants are popping out everywhere in front of me. I’m used to this in games that have pop in or fading assets but this is on a level that can only be considered distracting and ugly from an otherwise beautiful looking game. I perfectly understand that the engine could only handle so much on the 360’s limited hardware, but these are new consoles and I’m sure that they can handle things like pop in at a much better rate than this.

Overall I am very pleased at what the small preview team has done to fix this ambitious collection of the some of the greatest shooters of all time. I hope that my feedback is proven useful for some of you working on this update and I’ll definitley keep chipping away at this game to find what else could be improved. I’ve been waiting to play this update since it was first announced way back last year while I was eating at a Waffle House at 2:00 in the morning after a long shift at work. You’ve given me the excitement to play some more Halo and any excuse to play more Halo is a good enough excuse for me :)

Same here also. Was really hoping we was getting dedicated servers for campaign coop, but the person not hosting is always on a delay.
My friend and i have been waiting years to finally play halo together again, and really thought this update was going to make that dream come true...
Maybe one day the performance with coop will be fixed and we can relive what made us be best friends in the first place...
Halo CE: still no original audio in the game as well as, when you spam shoot with a plasma pistol it makes the noise like when you overcharge it. Its kind of annoying because it is loud.
Replicate it by shooting with a plasma pistol in any level of campaign in Halo CE and you will hear it.
For Halo 1 and Halo 2 i have used a trick that has worked when trying to play campaign coop and it has worked for me for years. first the host starts up the level and it will say do you wish to override your saved progress press yes then b as the countdown to start the level will start. now the host waits as the friend he is trying to get into his session to play with him needs to do this same thing first before you invite him. now that you both did this host invites friend and it will start. Last night on Halo 4 me and 3 friends for my first time ever as 3, 4 and ODST have never needed the above mentioned method to join my sessions to play the game together so 2 got into my session the 3rd simply restarted the game like clicking on another game and then clicking back on MCC once he was back on the main screen sent invite he was in the session no problem. Also on Halo 1 The Maw 3 nights ago gotta say was shocked when i blew the first 2 reactors and then the 3rd to have it highlight in red the first 2 again so i had to destroy 5 reactors in order for the game to let me proceed and i have never seen that before ever happen and i have played Halo games since the first one as if it was for Halo 1 i would have never bought my first XBOX when it launched and the memories i have from all the years of Halo games and with friends is special as it is to any true Halo fan who has been here from the start. Anyways hope this trick helps players play together for the Halo 1 and 2 campaigns as the more players that can experience Halo and hopefully enjoy it the better as Halo is the heart and soul of the XBOX it launched it and without it XBOX just wouldn't be the same. This is just my opinion so please don't post mean hateful things below this post as i am simply trying to help and also show my love for Halo.

Completed all 4 games from start to finish. It's a treat all the time!

Only wish the hdr brightness and contrast tuners were more intuitive. Like "make x barely visible" and "turn up till both boxes are the same color" I like this because it allows me to tune it to my specific set, and its straight forward. MCC, while I love havingthe options, it's not to intuitive and I keep second guessing my settings because of it.

This is still to be fixed in 1.507.0.0, both campaign and mp. Posted it some builds ago in "other" thread
