i am thankful for 343, but i just dont like how people are hating on 343
For the campaigns I have enjoyed their work regardless of my opinions that I want my COD to be COD and my Halo to be like old Halo. (I buy and enjoy both, but I don't want Halo to become COD.)
Now for MP this truly is a big mess. As for the fan reaction and forum posts I think some parts of MS & 343 are really asking for it when you read PR spin articles (on OXM, for example) that make it sound like the response to the mess is good.
I think much more (frequent) and better communicate that squares up with the actual MP experience would have changed the response from the community.
Ross's communication 34 days ago was really good, in my opinion. But I have a major issue with the fact that it was 34 days ago without more solid communication since then and the fact that it took that long to get the first "real" communication (I pre-ordered).
I was ok spending the first month on campaign and I did not say a word.
But about two months in something broke and I had enough and for the first time I sought out the forums to see what was going on and what others were saying.
I am willing to bet many others who previously never came to the forums did so after finally reaching a breaking point after one or two months.
And seriously, how many resets we have to tolerate from the updates? I was trying to avoid the mess by playing campaign and then I find mysterious resets back to the beginning multiple times!?!
So with bad QC on the initial release followed by bad QC/resets/more issues on the updates and then few and far between communication the fan reaction is not hard to understand.
It is not that we can not accept and understand a few issues but it is way more than a few issues, the length of time it has and is continuing and then the communication. This is a premium AAA title with high expectations. There was a long way to fall.
