If 343i tells me that the Master Chief that always kept his head high through difficult times (hence why the word "believe" is so commonly associated with John) had been just another generic "face down, eyes up" tankish stereotype for the years I've played the Halo franchise, not only will this snatch me up from immersion instantly, but I can only feel great remorse for the loss of the only ones who did Halo right.
C'mon. Look at the expression you get from the REAL Master Chief:
And compare it to the cliché ripoff:
You CANNOT change the personality of a character like that. You ruin it like that.
Bungie INTENDED Master Chief to seem like just another ordinary Spartan super-soldier. He wasn't the tallest, he wasn't the strongest, nothing made him "super special". Nothing but his strong attraction to luck. That's what had fans on the tip of their toes when playing in the boots of Master Chief. He WAS the definition of inspiration. A simple soldier overcoming enormous odds. Nothing could be more epic.
What's this? Master Chief has been changed to a "tankish" man all because someone at 343i had some kinda thing for Jorge or huge bulking armor?
For shame. All I see in 343i's "spin on Master Chief" is this:
Which looks EXACTLY like this:
Next time PLEASE take cues from Bungie's work. You CAN leave your mark on Halo without sacrificing what made it Halo in the first place. Besides, an upgrade to an armor is one thing. A drastic change of CHARACTER or PERSONALITY is crossing the line.
