UPDATE: Catalog clarifies — Ark is intact

OP Andycu5

Right, so despite Primordium and The 11th Hour Reports directly saying otherwise, the new Universe section on Waypoint is saying that the Ark has been obliterated.

Quote:
They also used a newly formed replacement ring of Installation 04 to obliterate the extant Flood population and the Ark itself.
WHAT!?

EDIT:

Not only has Catalog returned from the grave and provided clarification on the word-choice on the article's status on the Ark (it is indeed intact), but the article itself has been updated.
Happened in events of Halo 3

I'm well aware of that.

But Primordium and T11HR (both of which take place two weeks before Halo 4) confirmed that the Ark was heavily damaged rather than destroyed, and what I'm not aware of is why, if there objective with this new universe section is to add more accessibility to the lore, are they listing it as "obliterated" rather than "heavily damaged?"

Surely, if they are planning on taking us to the Ark in Halo 5 or at least a future game (which was heavily hinted at during Escalation), they'd want to make it clear to everyone that the installation wasn't actually destroyed in Halo 3?
That's because the "official story" says that the Ark was destroyed. However, as you've said OP...we know that's not the case.
Maybe the UNSC's only intel on it is what they think happened: The destruction of the Ark.
It is a possibility that they are not aware that the Ark was only damaged.
I'd guess it's just for sake of a quick article.
For clarification: Human records indicate [Waypoint] facility was heavily damaged, not destroyed. Contrary [temporary] records will be updated.

It may also be worth mentioning that 343 Guilty Spark/Chakas was found on Installation 00 by the UNSC Rubicon.

But how?
Didn't the Chief laser him?

He's apparently very durable. His shell was broken but parts of him remained active. His conversation with ONI makes up the modern events of Halo Primordium. After he tells his story, he commandeers the human vessel, (UNSC Rubicon), knocks the crew unconscious and then sets course for where he believes the Lifeshaper is located.
