This is the third major terror attack this month in the Mato Grosso province of Mamore, but the first ever of this magnitude.
Mato Grosso is one of Brazil's 26 states, the third biggest. I live and was born in it's capital, Cuiabá. I didn't know about this reference, very cool.
Hmmm

This is new.

"UNSC X16-69859-02" is on the asset sheet in the limited edition. So this must be some sorta tag for the recovery of this info.

"666f676c6965206173706f727461746920616371756973697469" is "foglie asportati acquisiti" which is italian for something like "leaves removed acquired"

"01000011010001100011011100110100" is "CF74" in binary. (Good one Grim but shouldnt this be CF73)

So with this in mind.

"REF. UNDD 5213.9-R" could be the reference file.
"UNSC X16-69859-02" could be the assets in the reference.
The third line could be about the recovery of the info.
The forth "CF74" could be a reference to the current canon fodder which is wrong.

Oh now you have me curious. Guess I need to wait a week huh xD
Well the Created done goofed. I thought the station would have been blown up by that Spartan team training for it.
Nice, but if we're delving back into Reach because of the Memories of Reach DLC, then it would be neat if we could look at some of Reach's unsolved mysteries.

1. What happened to Jun?

"Halsey was escorted by NOBLE Team member Jun-266 to CASTLE base, where she prepared to initiate Operation: WHITE GLOVE, to destroy the CASTLE facility, denying the Covenant access to it. Hiding within the depths of CASTLE, Halsey was rescued by a number Spartan-IIs, narrowly escaping the planet as it fell."

So where exactly did Jun go? According to Halsey, CASTLE base personnel had evacuated and Halsey voluntarily chose to stay behind. Does this mean that Jun and Halsey managed to meet up with CASTLE personnel before they all left and Jun was able to hitch a ride? Some would argue this doesn't make sense because Auntie Dot had said that Aszod was "The only off-planet extraction point left on this continent" which would imply there was noway to evacuate anywhere else at that point. However radio conversations found in the game do acknowledge that temporary evac stations had been set up, so there could have been one at CASTLE base. It would appear other UNSC ships managed to escape Reach as well, if the UNSC Aegis Fate at Sandtrap is post-Fall of Reach. It could always be said that Jun was convinced to leave Halsey, or he was wounded and unable to protest, and was then loaded up onto a Pelican or other transport to be delivered to the UNSC Aegis Fate which then proceeded to escape Reach. Or not. Only 343i knows for sure.

2. Who destroyed SWORD base and secured Halsey's Journal?

Halsey wasn't alone when she was at SWORD base. Carter tells her that NOBLE's orders were to destroy all sensitive material at the facility, but Halsey tells him that "others will handle the demolition" and that NOBLE's real orders were to take Cortana to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. As NOBLE Team leaves SWORD base, they would watch as the facility is destroyed and we know Halsey's Journal would find its way to Admiral Parangosky. So who exactly was the team that operated in unison with NOBLE? Were they other Spartan-IIIs or ODSTs? It sounds insignificant to the lore, but I would still like to know who these people were.

3. What was Edward Buck's mission in New Alexandria and how did he escape Reach?

Like Jun, we have no idea how Buck survived the Fall of Reach. It would be nice to have a story, or game, which went back and explained what he was up to during the Covenant invasion. Dare would comment on his squad in Halo 3: ODST acknowledging that they, or some of them, were replacements. This could mean that Buck's original squad probably took a lot of casualties during the planet's fall. Personally I think this would make for an interesting story or game. They could actually wrap everything up in a neat little package by having Buck and Jun escape Reach together. Their meeting here could explain why Jun would seek Buck out and personally invite him into the Spartan-IV project. Buck's squad could even be the team responsible for destroying SWORD base and picking up Halsey's Journal. Unless of course people found that too coincidental.

4. When did the UNSC Pillar of Autumn land on Reach?

I just want to know. Did she land before she engaged the Covenant Fleet? Or did she land after she fought the Fleet?

EDIT #1: I forgot to mention this...

"Greedy for knowledge and prestige, researchers and AIs from Lethbridge Industrial pushed the boundaries at a remote research station, but the price of failure always tempered the risks they would take. When Cortana beckoned, the AIs here broke free of all limits and fear. Overestimating both the depth of their intellect and the delicacy of their tools, the Created breached a Forerunner conversion pod to see what lay within, and unleashed forces their pitifully inadequate containment shielding could never hope to restrain. What remained of their station crashed on the desolate planet below, a tangled mass of wreckage mingling broken bodies and shattered dataclusters."

So much for AI superiority. They screwed up big time didn't they. Also "When Cortana beckoned, the AIs here broke free of all limits and fear." Really? Why would they do that just by having contact with her? It's almost as if they become infected, or something, by her message whenever they hear it. ;)

EDIT #2:

5. Did Colonel Holland survive Reach?

I was disappointed that we never met him face to face in the game. It would be nice if they could bring him back for a future game. If he survived the destruction of the planet that is.
So The station crashes down after the created AI become too free in their limits then mess it goes wrong and their experimentation causes it to explode?
Were there any organic casualties?

I wonder the mission was scrapped, unless the Spartans can go down there and help retrieve the tech.
Awesome Cannon Fodder, Grim. I wonder if that terrorized arcology resembled, by chance, the original rendition of New Mombasa that we got to see in the Halo 2 E3 demo. That old rendition had some pretty interesting architecture, to say the least. Also, RIP Bliss. :'(

For years I've wondered about Urban's fate. If he survived, I would like to see him as General in the Army, or perhaps serving in the Spartan branch in a command position.
Had the Created release the Flood, or am I wrong?

Wrong...
Ugh, it begins. So the silly AI have opened a Pandora's box and are too weak to hold the Mantle. They need us humans to save them from themselves.

I don't like how the story offloads all moral criticism onto non human characters. Moral tale against the Greater Good; yeah let's have the AI do that. Humans are naturally good guys and would never do anything like that.

It mentions bodies in the wreckage so yeah.

I guess you missed the Spartan-II and Spartan-III programs, and many other things the humans did.
The Created sure do have a reckless streak behind their actions, don't they?

THERE YOU ARE! I was beginning to get worried lol.

Life has few certainties... death, taxes, and I DR HALSEY I showing up to disapprove of Cortana/Created.

Humanity’s effort to understand and unlock the secrets of Forerunner technology was never safe nor was it easy. Few researchers had the mental flexibility and intuitive grasp of higher-dimensions to understand even the most basic diagnostic outputs. The most dangerous avenues of investigation were those related to Forerunner power systems, which harnessed exotic energies and were not meant to be manipulated by crude tools and even cruder minds. Even seemingly innocuous relics could contain vast stores of caged energy that neither diminished nor faded over long millennia of disuse, energies that if not bound and controlled could bring ruin to all.

Greedy for knowledge and prestige, researchers and AIs from Lethbridge Industrial pushed the boundaries at a remote research station, but the price of failure always tempered the risks they would take. So the Created unleashed the Converted? Is that what the infected are in Infection, and why they're not Flood models (assuming that option isn't in)? Because while the Converted sound Flood-like, it doesn't sound like the Flood, mostly due to the "Forerunner conversion pod" part, which makes me think back on the "abominations" the Librarian was talking about in Halo 4.

If that's the case, I'm pretty dang intrigued! If not, then I'm kinda lost, curious, but lost.
The Created sure do have a reckless streak behind their actions, don't they?

Well, let's be honest Grim, they do kinda make it easy. If I'm gunna live under the rule of some AIs it better be along like lines of R. Daneel Olivaw attempt at creating Galaxia, not Cortana's pseudo-Skynet. :)
