That helmet looks epic. I wonder who that Spartan is. :D
Well, it isn't Palmer, anyone from Majestic, nor Locke (nor anyone from his team), because the armor is none of their's (just look at the shoulders), so who knows.

I'm more curious as to who the "powerful new combatant" is. I'd like to assume it's not talking about the Sentinels (though I am glad to see they're going to be in the fight as well!).
I'm pretty sure that's the white spartan from Locke's team. The armor is identical if you look at it and compare them.

Same shoulder pads, same foot armor, same blue streaks, same antenna, etc. And I'd bet my money on it being Tanaka meaning the red spartan on Locke's team is very likely Macer.
I don't see any similarities. And I doubt both Macer and Tanaka are here, with Romeo and Buck being way more likely. I do not think it is anyone from Locke's team.
Then you're not looking hard enough because they're clearly there. Both of them have the exact same shoulder pads. Both of them have the exact same blue streaks on their armor (the outlines of said blue streaks are the exact same on the shoulder pads). Both of them have the exact same antenna. And both of them have the exact same color armor.

I decided to highlight a few of the similarities.

If you still can't notice the similarities then I can't really help you. Either way, Buck wanted time away from Romeo and his old squad in New Blood, so I don't think it's at all way more likely. I think it's much more likely that it's Locke, Buck, Tanaka, and Macer. It fits with 343 saying there would be plenty of strong female characters in Halo 5 and it would also be two males and two females which would mirror Blue Team and I think that's what 343 is going for.
No need to be rude about it, I just do not see the similarities. First, the helmet looks way off. It may share an antenna but not much else. The shoulder pads are completely different, with the top part of the comic one being more flat with a dip in the middle, while the one from the Halo 5 Guardians poster has a much different design.
And Macer seems like a bad choice to add, because she was not even part of the UNSC / ONI two years before this. It just does not add up.
I think that Buck and Romeo will not be separated, even if he wanted some time apart. He requested that they be transferred to a new team where he was not the leader. That seems to hint that they would be together still.

Blue team has two female members, and having Tanaka will be a third. Halsey a possible fourth. Plus I am sure there will be more. (Petra hopefully? :D )
Well then like I said I can't help you, but the similarities are there. They're not going to be identical down to a tea because they're not done by the same artists, but there's clearly similarities. Similar shoulder pads, same blue streaks, same color armor, and same antenna. That's far too many similarities to be a mere coincidence.

Macer isn't a bad choice at all. She has history with Locke and there was foreshadowing of her possibly joining ONI (her aspiration to be an ONI agent one day) and becoming a Spartan (Locke saying that maybe she should be a Spartan). Not to mention she saved his life. 343 didn't have to let her live, but they did and there's definitely a reason for it.

That doesn't hint that they'll remain together, it hints that they'll be transferred to other squads. As I said, Buck wanted time away from Romeo. There's no reason to say that if they were just going to end up in the same squad later on.

Either way, we'll find out soon, but I'm pretty sure that squad will consist of Locke, Buck, Tanaka, and Macer. I like Romeo, but he just seems like the odd man out this time IMO. Not to mention he'd likely be wielding a sniper, which is something nobody on Locke's team is wielding. One thing's for sure, if that white spartan on the Escalation cover is truly Tanaka (which is very likely) then that pretty much rules out Romeo being apart of this squad seeing as he surely isn't the red spartan as that's clearly a female (and he wouldn't be the white one considering that'd be Tanaka) and the odst one is very likely Buck considering the knife on his left shoulder.

Are you saying Tanaka is in Blue Team? John, Fred, Linda, and Kelly are in Blue Team. Since I don't think 343i will make an EXACT copy of their team with Locke's team, I feel like there will be 3 male members. There's going to be Locke, Buck I'm certain, Romeo I'm also sure of, and either Macer or Tanaka.
You thinking Halsey could be a member shows your ignorance. Halsey is an old crippled lady that is classified as a traitor. She is with the enemy, and wouldn't join a SPARTAN TEAM in active duty with the BEST OF THE BEST.

I meant as strong female characters, not members of Blue Team. Halsey and Tanaka are not members of Blue Team, and I did not mean it like that. No need to be a jerk about it just because you misunderstood what I wrote.
My thoughts, is actually will Jameson Locke be feature in Halo: Escalation?
I think the white spartan may very well be this tanaka girl. Also If you look closely at the white spartans hips/-Yoink- in this pic http://www.halopedia.org/images/e/e2/Locke_team_Halo_5.png it is quite curved indicating it is quite easily female. (albeit a bit chunky)

everyone thought Locke was a girl when they first released his image.

I didn't think Locke was a girl, but I can see why people did. He does kinda look girly when he's next to the chief.

I remember referring to Locke as "Marlow" for the longest. I still think of that name when I see him.

That at least was his name during early developement.
I look forward to the Halo Escalation #21 more than the next one.

I wonder why that was.
I'll just say this... from now on trust that 343 Industries has a plan.
  • Spartan-III Saber Team's death
  • Spartan-II Black Team's death
We will possibly have some light being shed, on these events in Halo: Last Light and Halo: Saint's Testimony... to which was the intention.
Marlowe the name for Locke during h5's early development. Thus when it was reported that his actor would be voicing a character in halo, it was first announced as Marlow.

I'm guessing the name didn't sound as great as they thought it did. Locke has a nice little K sound at the end, and rolls off the tongue easily.
