How powerful are the shields of a covenant ship?

OP M0ckingDrag0n

It's said that a Super MAC has enough power to punch through two Covenant capital ships and cripple a third. Knowing a Super MAC has around 50 gigatons of power and is able to destroy the shields of 3 Covenant ships, is it safe to assume that a covenant capital ship or at least CCS Battlecruisers which is the most common covenant capital ship can withstand around 15 gigatons of energy?

It varies according to source. The Super MAC encompasses a whole class of weapon systems observed from Reach (most powerful), Earth (least powerful), and presumably the Infinity/Eternity. Reach's Orbital Weapon Platforms are depicted as destroying no less than any Covenant vessel it comes across, regardless of size. Johnson's statement about the Super MACs being an BFG and what they can do is referenced in Halo 2/Warfleet. And finally, word of god says that the Infinity and its escorts can annihilate a Covenant CSO-Supercarrier (even though the Infinity's armaments at the time of Kilo-5 are depicted as multi-megaton weaponry). CCS Battlecruisers are logically, given the usual 3-1 (UNSC-Covenant) situations faced throughout the war, liable to fail under concentrated fire from multi-kiloton weaponry. If one takes the Fall of Reach animated series more seriously: a CCS Battlecruiser can be mission-killed by a couple hundred tons of tnt.
