Unsc space stations

OP Myth137

A few mini questions regarding these orbiting bois.

1. How large is the average space station used by humanity?
2. Do these stations ever have weaponry or energy sheilding, if so what is it like?
3. What is the largest unsc built station in existence?
4. Have any of these stations ever had a dedicated fleet protecting them, similar to high charity?
Their size really depends on their purpose. Some stations are for monitoring, like the one near Io, which I assume is fairly small. Then you have massive ship yards capable of constructing UNSC vessels. As for weaponry, Ivanoff Station had perimeter defense guns, but I'm sure someone else can give a more detailed explanation on that.

Stations like the MAC platforms around Earth and Reach had dedicated fleets, but those were mostly defense fleets for the planet that complemented the MAC platforms.
I wonder how many of these plummeted to the ground when the created hit them with emp pulses from the guardians. which brings me to a question: wouldn't the emps short out the AIs that pledged their allegiances to Cortana? Good post. Just made me ask me think about more questions.

If the stations are in orbit, then I would assume they would just sorta float there aimlessly. Though an issue that might arise is them crashing into each other or other space debris now that they can no longer maneuver.

Small nitpick: it wasn't an EMP. It was an "attenuation pulse". They are super similar, but figured I'd comment on it to help you with future posts.
To my knowledge, the most common UNSC space station is the Anchor station. According to Halopedia, they have a bunch of different configurations, but the one we see in Reach is 999m (3280 feet) long and 1036m (3400 feet) tall. She had 7 point defense guns, which are probably the same 50mm cannons that were used by UNSC ships of that era.

  1. The Moncton class ODPs are 1km long iirc. They're also the most common form of space station.
  2. ODPs are heavily armed. Anchor stations have 8 turrets visible (7 in the front, 1 in the back) and over 150 missile silos if Anchor 9 is anything to go off of.
  3. The UNSC Cradle was absolutely enormous, Gamma Station over Reach was pretty big too.
  4. These stations are usually, you guessed it, stationary. The UNSC Hopeful was mobile though, and it would've needed to be escorted by several ships since it was only a medical station
