OP snickerdoodle

With Halo 3: ODST on PC (and Firefight for both Xbox and PC!) on the horizon, we wanted to give everyone a heads up on some issues you may experience during the update.

The biggest one is that saved films from Halo 2: Anniversary and Halo 3 may become corrupted and un-watchable after the update. We strongly suggest that if you are holding on to films that you'd like to save that you do so before you take on the update on September 22nd. For those of you that participated in the Halo 3: ODST flight on PC, those films may also experience the same issue.

Games With Affected Films:
  • Halo 2: Anniversary (Xbox, Microsoft Store, Steam)
  • Halo 3 (Xbox, Microsoft Store, Steam)
  • Halo 3: ODST (Microsoft Store, Steam)
Games NOT Affected:
  • Halo: Reach (Xbox, Microsoft Store, Steam)
  • Halo 4 (Xbox)
Additionally, as with prior updates, mid-mission progress for campaign and playlists may also be affected.

Every time we release an update for MCC there's always the chance that mid-mission checkpoints might disappear or prior version saved films might become corrupted. We know it's frustrating and we apologize for the inconvenience but usually it's a short term pain for long term gain as we continue to improve and expand the game. This time around, we’ve made improvements to hit registration in Halo 3 Multiplayer and added brand new skins/visors for Season 3, which required content changes that invalidate film files prior to the update. Thank you for understanding and please be sure to save/archive any films you might want to hold onto before next week's update.

  • Archive/save any of your existing films by September 21 to be safe
Our teams are working hard to get this update to you and we're looking forward to next week as much as you.
