And of course, we’ll have a heroic slate world-class broadcast talent on hand to deliver every magic moment of the most important matches, including some new faces to Halo’s caster rotation. Check out the full roster below.

FORMAT

The Sydney Finals will feature a 32-team double elimination bracket, with the final two teams qualifying for the HaloWC 2018 Finals. During the Sunday grand finals in Sydney, these squads will duke it out to determine seeding and which team will take the first-place purse. Matches will be comprised of best of 5 and best of 7 series.

FFA

Another exciting element of the HaloWC season is the addition of epic FFA showdowns, letting lone wolves prove themselves against top competition. As with every open event in the HaloWC 2018 season, the Sydney Finals will feature a $5,000 FFA tournament taking place all day on Saturday. The action from each FFA tournament throughout the season will culminate at the Halo 5 FFA @ HaloWC 2018 Finals in Seattle, WA on April 13-15 where 12 qualified players will duke it out for an additional $10,000.

TOP STORIES

  • Leading the way into the Sydney Finals is the Mindfreak squad that rolled through their competition during online play, letting everyone know who they’ll have to get through to make it out of the region. The talented lineup of Madsy, BZIIRK, Junior, and Seduce finished online play having won all four 2k tournaments to head into the Orlando Open with plenty of momentum. Will they be able to keep it up for their region’s live event?

  • Looking to play the foil to Mindfreak’s current hold on the Australian standings are their heated rivals at Team Immunity, with Junior and Seduce looking to make a statement to the former teammates Benno and Voltage. There’s been no shortage of bad blood building between these two squads, and it’s all ready to boil over at the Sydney Finals.

  • Another squad to watch might be Integral Nation (Barcode, Vampt, Bald, Colt), who made some considerable noise in the Australian 2K tournaments, but have been embroiled in roster shuffling that will have to be overcome when they go head to head with more established squads. iN recently dropped Jaro to snag Bald after the latter’s departure from x5.

  • One of the most exciting aspects of the Sydney Finals will be watching lesser-known teams attempt to emerge from relative world-obscurity to challenge established assumptions. Two such examples will be teams like Authority, who come into the tournament as massive underdogs but should always be considered dangerous enough to steal a series and shake up the standings.

We can't wait to showcase all the epic Halo action taking place down under, whether you are at the event itself or tuning in online all weekend long. GLHF!
