Episode 23

By Jay Frechette -

I have been fortunate to visit a few great places over the summer while filming The Bulletin, but personally, this trip to MEGA Bloks epic headquarters in Montreal might be my favorite. Our video in this week’s episode really only covers a small part of a massive operation. From concept all the way to final production and packaging, it’s all done right there. During the tour I couldn’t help but feel like Charlie Bucket visiting Willy Wonka’s factory….minus the Oompa-Loompas and chocolate river. The surprise they had waiting for me blew me away and I hope you enjoy watching as much as we had making it. I want to extend a huge thanks to the folks at MEGA for their hospitality and help putting this all together.

This week, we’re also are giving you a look at The Rig - a new Arena map revealed at Gamescom by Halo 5: Guardians head honcho Josh Holmes. I dare you to watch this and not get pumped for H5 multiplayer.

Fresh Picks was easy this episode. First up, the finals and semi-finals from the Halo Championship Series Gamescom Invitational is available right now on the Halo Channel. This was a great tournament where US and European teams faced off in Halo 5: Guardians Arena, ending with a nail-biter in the Finals.

Lastly, the Halo: Reach Sniper Rifle prop created by Commodore Luna is just amazing. I love all the little details and moving parts that really sell it. I can’t believe this thing is made mostly of wood. Crazy.

And for all of you at PAX Prime this weekend, make sure to stop by the Xbox booth to play some 24-player Warzone. The Bulletin crew will be there, so if you see us running around, make sure to say hello!

Thanks for watching! We’ll see you next episode.

Casting Call

From announcing the actor that will play Master Chief in the upcoming Showtime Halo series to launching a ranked Super Fiesta mode in Halo 5, it's been an exciting and interesting week here at the studio. On top of the typical work week of meetings, emails, and announcements, I've also had to start mentally preparing to play on our studio's softball team which saw quite a few casualties last year. While I do play indoor soccer with the studio, I've been itching to take a few swings, run the...

As usual a lot has happened since our last Community Update and the pace shows no signs of slowing. This week we shared a first-look at Halo: Reach and Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC, continued promotion for our rapidly approaching first stop of Halo: Outpost Discovery, and traveled to Dallas to support a Halo esports event this weekend at DreamHack Dallas via the HCS Grassroots program – and that's just the start.

Episode 22

Before working at 343, I was aware of esports but it wasn’t until RTX 2013 that I really got into it. I remember sitting backstage of the qualifiers for the Halo Global Championship in complete awe of the production and competitive play. I found myself getting caught up in the high-stakes matches and becoming interested in the personal stories of pros and amateurs alike that showed up.
