Let’s play Halo! Earlier this year we announced that $50,000 will be up for grabs in open tournaments for fans to compete over and today we’re providing a breakdown of what to expect. Like with fans of Lore, there are also competitive fans who love to watch and compete, and we wanted to make sure they had a place in the venue they could call home as well while providing opportunities for anyone to play Halo and win prizes!

Here are the featured Open Competitions taking place at Halo Fest:

<ul>
<li>Halo Infinite: 4v4 – $20,000</li>

<li>Halo Infinite: FFA – $10,000</li>

<li>Halo Infinite: 2v2 – $3,500</li>

<li>Halo 5: Guardians: 2v2 – $2,500</li>

<li>Halo 3: 4v4 – $2,750</li>

<li>Halo 3: 2v2 – $3,500</li>

<li>Halo 2: 4v4 – $2,750</li>

<li>Halo: CE: 2v2 – $2,500</li>
</ul>

These tournaments are all free to enter for all attendees.

One thing we want to touch on specifically was the Halo Infinite 4v4. If you’ve competed at HCS events, typically Open Brackets of that magnitude require the purchase of a team pass to enter the tournament. Considering Halo Fest sold out before this information released, we’ve decided to open up 16 team passes for the HCS community to secure ahead of the event. The Team Passes won’t go on sale until November, but today we’re sharing more information about how they will be sold.

It’s important to us that these team passes are for the competitive community specifically, and not for GA fans who missed out on getting GA tickets and are now looking for ways to just get into Halo Fest with no interest in competing in this 4v4. Each team pass will allow entry for 4 competitors and 1 coach into Halo Fest.

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured-1024x576.png" alt="Team Gen G celebrating a win at the HCS Arlington Major" class="wp-image-135825" srcset="https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured-1024x576.png 1024w, https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured-300x169.png 300w, https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured-768x432.png 768w, https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured-1536x864.png 1536w, https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured-1568x882.png 1568w, https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2025/04/Open-Featured.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

Here’s how it will work:

<ul>
<li>Team Passes will be sold in November, 4-6 weeks before the event.</li>

<li>Closer to Halo Fest, there will be a sign-up page where teams can register for Halo Fest. Teams will be invited to purchase a team pass in order of most HCS Points earned.</li>

<li>The team you sign up with will be considered your Halo Fest roster. Once a team purchases a Team Pass, that roster is considered locked.</li>

<li>We will go down the points list, team by team until Team Passes are sold out.</li>

<li>A Team Pass gives full access to Halo Fest, including competing in other open competitions in addition to the Halo Infinite 4v4.</li>

<li>Team Passes are not transferable.</li>
</ul>

The HCS Invitational brings together 8 of the world’s top Halo teams for an exclusive showcase at Halo Fest. Competing on the latest Halo Infinite HCS maps and modes, they’ll battle through group stage and a double-elimination bracket for their share of the $150,000 prize pool!

Teams will be selected through a direct invitation process, with invitations expected to be sent in the late Summer / early Fall. It’s not an exact science, and we won’t be using a points criteria. Our goal is to create a competitive spectacle that delivers epic entertainment for fans both in attendance and watching around the world.

Here are some of the factors we’ll be considering for invitations:

<ul>
<li>HCS partnered teams that are still actively involved in the community/ecosystem.</li>

<li>Top pros or teams competing consistently (and performing well).</li>

<li>Positive contributors to the Halo community and franchise.</li>
</ul>

The competition doesn’t stop with the HCS Invitational. Halo Fest will feature $50,000 in Open Competitions, giving attendees the chance to jump into the action across a variety of Halo titles and compete for cash prizes all weekend long.

Whether you’re teaming up with friends for Halo Infinite or revisiting classic Halo experiences, the Open Competitions are your opportunity to test your skills, meet fellow competitors, and become part of the Halo Fest celebration.

Here are the featured Open Competitions taking place at Halo Fest:

As with previous HCS events, the Halo Infinite 4v4 Open Tournament will require a Team Pass to compete. Because Halo Fest sold out before Team Pass details were announced, we’re making 16 Team Passes available specifically for the competitive Halo community.

Each Team Pass includes admission to Halo Fest for (4) players and (1) coach, along with entry into the tournament. Team Passes will go on sale in November, and are intended for competitors looking to participate in the 4v4 – not as an alternative way to purchase general admission to Halo Fest.

Here’s how it will work:

<ul>
<li>Team Passes will be sold in November, 4-6 weeks before the event.</li>

<li>Closer to Halo Fest, there will be a sign-up page where teams can register for Halo Fest. Teams will be invited to purchase a team pass in order of most HCS Points earned.</li>

We still want to reward participation and performances at Birmingham and Atlanta, but those events took place months before Halo Fest without any knowledge that they’d connect to Halo Fest in any way. The decay ensures they still have seeding impact, while making recent competitions the primary factor in Team Pass qualification.</td></tr><tr><td>How will the Halo Fest Open 4v4 Registration page work?</td><td>This page will be for roster declaration, seeded by most HCS points. The top 16 teams will be invited to purchase a Halo Fest Open 4v4 team pass. Registration does not guarantee a team pass – it simply determines invitation priority. All teams are encouraged to sign up as it is not guaranteed that the top 16 teams will purchase passes.</td></tr><tr><td>Where can I find the Halo Fest Open 4v4 Registration page?</td><td><a href="https://www.faceit.com/en/organizers/c96b93cb-c3cc-4956-8394-9ca9b4604e4b/HCS">FACEIT</a>. Ready to assemble your first Fireteam? Here are a few basic steps required for adding friends playing on different platforms:

<ol>
<li>If you don’t already have one, <a href="https://aka.ms/HaloCEAccount">create a new Microsoft account</a> and select a suitable Gamertag so your cross-platform friends can find and add you.</li>

<li>Search for and add your friends’ Gamertags to your XBOX friends list online at <a href="https://www.xbox.com">XBOX.com</a>, in the <a href="https://www.xbox.com/en-US/apps/xbox-app-on-mobile">XBOX mobile app</a>, or through the XBOX Game Bar social widget on your PC. (Your friends will also need to accept your friend requests!)</li>

<li>Once successfully added to your XBOX friends list, access the “Play Co-op” menu in Halo: Campaign Evolved to send invites or join up on a friend’s Fireteam. You’ll see a blinking dot indicator beside the menu option whenever friends are online.</li>
</ol>

The first time you play Halo: Campaign Evolved, players on PlayStation® and Steam will be prompted to link their PlayStation® or Steam ID to their newly created XBOX Gamertag. Early Access Begins Today | Halo: Campaign Evolved

Spartans, start your engines!

It’s Halo’s Silver Anniversary (that’s 25 years!) and we’ve been celebrating all year long – and those celebrations are not exclusive to the studio. If you are attending San Diego Comic Con drive by the Mattel booth today July 23, you may recognize a familiar, sleek, silhouette. If you get there in time, you might even get lucky and snag an exclusive poster.

While it may not weigh nearly 3 metric tons, the buildable UNSC M12 Warthog from Mattel Brick Shop is a 1:22 scale  of sleek, classic UNSC driving machine. It is customizable with extra parts, decals, including metal parts, and an exclusive Hot Wheels Warthog!

If that’s not enough, you can take your love for speed into Halo: Campaign Evolved with the Ignition Armor Style for<s> </s> Master Chief. It’s all throttle, no brakes. This Armor Style was created specially  for Mattel and the code will be found in the package with the redemption instructions. Available in US product only.

<a href="https://shop.mattel.com/products/mattel-brick-shop-hot-wheels-halo-unsc-m12-warthog-jnp49">The iconic Halo Warthog from Mattel Brick Shop is available to preorder today</a>, July 23, and will be available to all hot rod enthusiasts alike beginning October 1, 2026.

And remember…if you aren’t first, you’re last!

Starting July 28 (8:00 a.m. PDT), all editions of Halo: Campaign Evolved will be available to install and play on any supported platform. Day 1 availability for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers begins at the same time.

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Microsoft Accounts</h2>

Halo: Campaign Evolved supports shared story checkpoints, collectibles, and customizations across all your preferred platforms. To keep track of your campaign progress, Skulls, and more, Microsoft accounts and Gamertags are required to play Halo: Campaign Evolved.

If you already have an XBOX Gamertag, simply log in with the affiliated Microsoft account when prompted during the first time you play Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Halo newcomers can ensure the smoothest start to their campaign experience by <a href="https://aka.ms/HaloCEAccount">creating a free Microsoft account today</a> online or from a mobile phone. You’ll also get to choose a suitable Gamertag to share with your IRL friends for cross-platform party invites!

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Linking Cross-Platform Accounts</h2>

Upon loading into Halo: Campaign Evolved for the first time, PlayStation®5 and Steam players will be prompted to link their PlayStation® or Steam ID to their Microsoft account. This step is required to access your existing friends lists so you can campaign together.

To get you into the action, Halo Support has prepared a short, step-by-step guide on linking cross-platform accounts to your Microsoft account:

<ul>
<li><a href="https://support.halowaypoint.com/hc/en-us/articles/50854344223508-Account-Linking-Unlinking-in-Halo-Campaign-Evolved">Account Linking and Unlinking in Halo: Campaign Evolved</a></li>
</ul>

Whether you play on XBOX, PlayStation®, or Steam, you’ll find friends playing Halo: Campaign Evolved on the same platform in the “Platform Friends” pane of the “Play Co-Op” menu.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Adding Cross-Platform Allies</h2>

To add friends who play on other platforms, you’ll simply need to know their Gamertag (registrants of new Microsoft accounts will choose one during setup). You can then search for and add your friends’ Gamertags to your XBOX friends list in a variety of ways:

<ul>
<li>Online at XBOX.com</li>

<li>From the XBOX Game Bar (on Windows PC)</li>

<li>In the XBOX mobile app</li>
</ul>

Once successfully added to your XBOX friends list, cross-platform friends will appear in the “Cross-Platform Friends” list of the “Play Co-op” menu whenever they’re online.

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Joining a Fireteam</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://wpassets.halowaypoint.com/wp-content/2026/07/HCE-MainMenu-XBOX-CoOp_Selected_Waypoint.jpg" alt="Halo: Campaign Evolved main menu. Whenever friends are online, you’ll see a blinking indicator beside the “Play Co-op” option in the main menu. Find a friend on the “Platform Friends” or “Cross-Platform Friends” lists to join up on their session or invite them to your Fireteam as session host.

After you find the Skulls below in-game, you’ll unlock the ability to play through the game using the LASO setting. Completing the entire game on LASO not only earns you tons of respect on the streets of New Mombasa, but it also earns you the<a href="https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/achievement-list-halo-campaign-evolved" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> “MYTHIC” Achievement</a>.

Note: If anyone in your Fireteam has Difficulty Modifiers enabled, this Achievement will not unlock.
