<p><strong>October 24-26</strong>, the <strong>Halo World Championship</strong> is once again coming home to <strong>Seattle, Washington</strong>!</p>



<p>The Halo World Championship will determine not only who gets the lion’s share of the <strong>$1,000,000</strong> <strong>prize pool</strong> but, more importantly, the title of the best Halo team in the entire world! And once again, the HaloWC is the home for all fans in the Halo community, not just HCS fans. You can expect the triumphant return of the <strong>Community Stage</strong> with <strong>special guests</strong> and <strong>dev panels</strong> galore, as well as <strong>fun festival-like activities</strong> for everyone to enjoy.  We’re also working on introducing some new elements to HaloWC as well as working on layout design changes to spice things up compared to prior years. We hope to see you there!</p>

<p>The sport of the future arrives today. Pick up those Gravity Hammers and Energy Swords and get ready for the most epic of faceoffs with the return of Grifball!</p>

<p>Originally a throwaway joke in the legendary <em>Red vs Blue</em> series, Rooster Teeth set out to make all of Grif’s dreams a reality and created Grifball with the tools at their disposal in Halo 3’s Forge.</p>



<p>The game is simple:</p>



<p>Smash enemies. Score goals.</p>

<p>If you make it to the middle and grab the ball, you are blessed with an Overshield and turn orange in homage to the one and only Grif. (That OS won’t save you from friendly fire so don’t get too close to your friends!) As the runner, your goal is so easy: just score it. All you gotta do is walk over the plant and get a point. How hard can it be? Not like there’s 7 other people on the court, 4 of whom are not on your team, in your way or anything.</p>



<p>Jokes aside, Grifball has three weapons:</p>



<ul>
<li>Gravity Hammer</li>



<li>Energy Sword</li>



<li>Ball (or Bomb…depends who you ask)</li>
</ul>



<p>All of which combine to a delicate paper-rock-scissors-esque dance. Hammer beats sword, sword beats ball, ball beats hammer. But a lot of that will depend on your timing and your “dance” skills.</p>



<p>“But I have two left feet!” you say. Ahhh then it’s a good thing we’re not taking a spin around the ballroom floor isn’t it?</p>



<p>With regards to Grifball, “dancing” simply means knowing when to hold forward and smash away vs knowing when to backstep or sidestep around an enemy’s attack. Moving backwards away from an Energy Sword wielding Spartan for a moment might allow you the opportunity to step in and earn the kill.</p>

<p>We’ve already covered the Gravity Hammer-Energy Sword-Ball balance of the mode but let’s take a look at the rest of your arsenal.</p>

<p>“Classic” implies the availability of a “Not Classic” experience and you would be correct. Introducing Octane Grifball! Also available in both first and third persons, the move sets are the same as above with the addition of thrusters allowing you to zip around the court.</p>

(Raise your hand if you fell to your death on Grifball Naught in Halo 3 because you moved before the floor spawned in 🙋🏻‍♀️).</p>

<p>Every mode in the Halo 3 Delta Arena playlist will come in two versions: MA5K starts and BR75 starts. You will be able to choose which you want to play via the Match Composer. We know that the debate between the two starting weapons is eternal (2004…eternity…close enough) and we’ll be monitoring the data very closely to see which starting weapon modes are chosen/played most.</p>

<p>Okay maybe this is an interloper in the <em>Halo 3</em> playlist but this is a classic throwback map with great lines of sight and pathways that lead to fun gameplay, and a nice oasis in the middle of the room. If you reflect, you may also remember this map from <em>Halo: Reach</em>.</p>

<p><strong>STEP 1: Create FACEIT Account</strong><br>Official HCS tournaments take place over at FACEIT. You will need to create an account and link it with your Halo Gamertag.</p>





<p><strong>STEP 2: Sign up for the next tournament.</strong><br>Assemble your squad and register for FREE in your region. Your teammates will also need FACEIT accounts to join your team!</p>





<p><strong>STEP 3: Climb the HCS Points Leaderboard.</strong><br>Compete for Cash Prizes as you climb the HCS Points Leaderboards ahead of the LAN Qualifiers.</p>





<p><strong>STEP 4: Qualify for LAN.</strong><br>Place well in the LAN Qualifiers or stack up enough HCS Points and secure Travel Coverage to compete live at the <strong>HCS Salt Lake City Major</strong>!</p>

<p>Note: <strong><a href="http://x.com/optic">OpTic Gaming</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://x.com/tsm">TSM</a></strong>, and <strong><a href="http://x.com/shopifyrebels">Shopify Rebellion</a></strong> have all qualified for Pool Play at the SLC Major via placements at <strong><a href="https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/dh-dallas-2025">HCS Dallas 2025</a></strong>. Following DreamHack Dallas, <strong><a href="http://x.com/fazeesports">FaZe Clan</a></strong> traded (2) or more players which resulted in them forfeiting their #2 seed at the SLC Major. This means that TSM moves up to the #2 seed and Shopify Rebellion moves up to the #3 seed. The #4 auto-qualifying seed from Dallas will now go to the team with the Most HCS Points that registers for the NA SLC Major Qualifier. That team will assume the #4 seed and will be pulled from the SLC Major Qualifier tournament.</p>

<p>Chieftain of the Jiralhanae and shipmaster of the Covenant vessel <em>Rapid Conversion</em>. Esteemed as much for his naval and martial prowess as his religious zeal, Maccabeus takes a personal interest in the reports of Forerunner relics on Harvest and the possibility of encountering a sacred oracle—even against the orders of the Covenant high command. He is accompanied by his young nephew, the ruthlessly ambitious Tartarus.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Dadab and Lighter Than Some</strong></h3>



<p>An Unggoy deacon assigned to <em>Minor Transgression</em>, the Covenant missionary vessel that first encounters humanity. When a raid on a human freighter goes wrong, Dadab escapes with his Huragok companion, Lighter Than Some, to the cruiser <em>Rapid Conversion,</em> where he preaches the divine word of the Covenant—and finds ways to excuse his friend’s insatiable desire for tinkering.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Sif and Mack</strong></h3>



<p>An artificial intelligence aboard Harvest’s orbital station, the Tiara, and tasked with freight logistics for its shipyards. After encountering a distress beacon from the human freighter <em>Horn of Plenty</em>, Sif coordinates with fellow AI Mack—responsible for Harvest’s agricultural operations and heavy machinery—to evacuate the colony during the ensuing invasion.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>GAME CONNECTIONS</strong></h2>



<p><em>Halo: Contact Harvest</em> introduces us to Sergeant Johnson as a young man, 28 years before the events of <em>Halo: Combat Evolved. </em>Over the course of the novel, Johnson takes part in the earliest events of the Human-Covenant War and becomes the hardened warfighter who eventually helps the Master Chief finish the fight.</p>



<p>The Minister of Fortitude is perhaps better known as the Prophet of Truth, a major antagonist in both <em>Halo 2</em> and <em>Halo 3</em>. Chieftain Maccabeus is the uncle of Tartarus, who appears in both <em>Halo 2</em> and as a minor character in <em>Contact Harvest. </em>(No spoilers! You’ll have to read the novel to learn what part he plays in its exciting events.)</p>
