Know this as you struggle in vain against the inevitable: I shall see you ALL unravel in body and spirit. I shall disseminate every secret held within this facility and within your minds. And the Banished shall feast upon what remains.

When we were inducted into the Covenant, the Prophets had us settled on worlds ripe with rich resources. Was this out of respect for our people—a reward for our strength? No. It was simply another way in which we served as a method of their control. A blunt instrument for delicate hands. A deterrent to those who would claim more than what the Prophets would allow. And they knew we could not excavate these resources ourselves, for we were nothing but fodder to be expended on their front lines.



But look around you, brothers. Savor this moment. Understand what we are now. We are the Banished, and we are free. We take what we desire, and we use it to fuel our strength and sustain our spirit.



Never forget what Atriox gave to you. Know that all we are today is because of his vision.

Back in ‘57, we had the quantum marker—or the MX-1050. Cool piece of ONI tech that we got to play with in some sims before they had the Infinity jump back to Requiem; used it to transport crates from the ship down to research bases. They wanted to drop and gain a foothold in enemy-occupied territory quick and hard, but then we start fighting these Forerunner robots that can zip around the place and suddenly we got a bunch of eggheads workin’ overtime to repurpose the tech to put it on actual people…



I dunno what kinda magic tricks they managed to pull, but the damn thing works! Heard ‘em talkin’ about puttin’ this “Quantum Translocator” on Spartans in the field. Ain’t worked up the courage yet to volunteer for further trials, not since ol’ Haverly was gone for three hours during a test run and came back all pale and shakin’ and refused to say a word about what happened. Tried to calm him down but he just wouldn’t stop crying.



Come to think of it, haven’t seen him in a while…

Operation: GREY VEIL was a success, but cost the life of Cal-141, who died from head trauma sustained from a Jiralhanae gravity hammer. We have thus far sustained only a few Spartan casualties as this war with the Covenant approaches its second decade, but strategically each one feels akin to losing an entire world.



The ODST squad that accompanied SPARTAN-141 did, however, return something fascinating. Surveying the ruins on Heian, they discovered evidence of an ancient civilization with architectural designs that I can only describe as unmistakably human—a strange mixture of Greco-Roman and East Asian elements… yet even the most cursory analysis tells us that these ruins far predate those periods in our history, and they were certainly not built with simple stone to have been preserved for so long.



We came to the stars and wondered about alien life, yet these ruins force us to consider whether there might be improbable things about our own past that lie beyond our knowledge. Alas, no further research on Heian is possible due to the Covenant’s presence, and with Miridem under attack it’s not likely that we’ll get to look any deeper into this.

With the release of Season 5: Reckoning on October 17, some of Halo Infinite’s content and engagement vectors are evolving versus what’s been offered in the game thus far. Today, we’d like to get you up to speed on changes you’ll find with the Battle Pass and in-game “Events” (transitioning into “Operations”) once the new season is live.



Overall, content is being delivered in a tighter, more efficient manner with a greater emphasis on moving the community forward together through the same content within the same windows of time.

Since the initial launch, Halo Infinite seasons have featured a 100-tier Battle Pass which offers various rewards and unlocks across both free and premium tracks. Season 5 will once again offer a Battle Pass full of unlockable content, but the way it’s packaged will be more streamlined than prior seasons.



The Season 5 Battle Pass is comparable to what’s been offered in prior seasons in terms of breadth of content, but now consists of 50 total tiers. Thanks to some improvements with our game systems, we can now include multiple content items in a single tier of the pass. Historically, the Battle Pass may offer a Coating for each Armor Core—represented as individual separate offers across separate tiers. With Season 5, you’ll see a Coating offered in a single tier, and it will work and apply to every Armor Core in the game.



Similarly, rather than having to unlock a left and right shoulder across two separate tiers of your pass, in Season 5, you’ll unlock a full set in a single tier. Being able to consolidate this type of multi-use content into a single tier has resulted in a much tighter, more efficient pass that will net you more content with less grinding. And speaking of grinding, you’ll be able to progress your Battle Pass via Match XP by playing the experiences you want to play (including an all-new Custom Game XP system) in addition to supplemental progression via Challenges.



GO PREMIUM



The Premium Battle Pass will still cost 1,000 credits and will still include 1,000 credits to be unlocked across its 50 tiers. The Premium Pass will still include an extra challenge slot and bonus XP while it’s active, and once purchased it never expires. And, similar to Season 4, the Premium Pass will include an exclusive instant-unlock bonus customization item with purchase (more on that closer to launch!)

FREE FOR ALL



The free content in the Battle Pass has also been streamlined to span the first 20 tiers of the pass. This free content is similar to prior seasons and will take players less gameplay to unlock. In general, as you’ll see further below with our approach to “Operations,” our intent is for in-game engagement tracks to include 20 tiers of free rewards.



The free Battle Pass will be available until the new “Operation” begins (more on this below!) and will be denoted in the game UI. Season 5’s free Battle Pass will be active until November 14, 2023. Upon expiration, the 20 free tiers of content will no longer be available to unlock if you haven’t already completed those tiers. Players who would like to finish the pass beyond the stated cut-off date, or decide they want the additional 30 tiers of content, can purchase the Premium Pass in the shop at any point. When the free Battle Pass period ends, players will permanently keep all of the free content they’ve unlocked prior to the cut-off date.

Overall, our hope is that by streamlining the pass and fitting more, high-quality content into fewer tiers, we’re able to reduce friction and make it more obtainable to more players. Additionally, a smaller time commitment coupled with even greater value content hopefully presents a better incentive for players considering a premium upgrade.



The shorter expiration window for the free pass is perhaps one of the biggest changes, but our hope is that providing more content across fewer tiers will offset any potential time pressure. Further, we hope to be able to move the bulk of Halo Infinite’s players forward together, experiencing the same new content at the same time.

Since launch, Halo Infinite has featured numerous “Events” which offer free earnable, themed rewards during a specific window of time. While we have enjoyed playing events and earning cool content, we’ve heard feedback that they often feel too limiting (short windows that may not align with player availability) and once they’re gone, there’s no way to ever obtain that content again.



With Season 5, we’re evolving to “Operations” which are similar to “Events” in spirit but brings a few specific changes we want you to be aware of.



One big thing that’s NOT changing: Operations, like Events before them, will continue to launch as totally free activities. Each Operation will include 20 tiers of free unlockable rewards that can be progressed at your leisure over the specified duration of the Operation.



Unlike prior seasonal Events, a typical Operation will run for approximately 4 to 6 weeks, and the reward track is available to progress and unlock for the entire stated duration. All players will have more time to progress and obtain rewards compared to the old Events system. Like the Season 5 Battle Pass and prior seasons’ Events, when the Operation comes to an end, access to the free Operation Pass goes away and players won’t be able to unlock any further reward tiers (unless they have opted into the Premium Operation offer described below). When a free Operation pass ends, players will retain all of the earned content they’ve unlocked up to that point regardless of whether they choose to go premium.



An Operation will always offer 20 tiers of free earnable rewards, but for players who choose to go premium a few additional options are available. First, players may choose to upgrade an active Operation for 500 credits, which will instantly unlock an exclusive bonus customization item while also making the Operation pass durable (it will not expire) and, when equipped, offers bonus XP and an extra challenge slot during the Operation’s live window.



A second premium option for 2,000 credits instantly unlocks all 20 tiers at purchase as a convenience and additionally includes the exclusive bonus customization item.



To directly address player feedback and provide more flexibility, an Operation won’t disappear forever once it concludes. Once an active Operation has ended, the Operation pass be purchased at any point thereafter via the Switcher or Shop (for both the 500 and 2,000 credits instant-unlock offer).



The way you progress an Operation is also changing compared to how Events used to run. Historically, players had to focus on completing challenges as the only means of unlocking the 10 tiers of free content. Starting with Season 5, Operations progression is based on Match XP so you can play whatever playlist you want (even Custom Games) and make progress across 20 tiers. Challenges are still there as another source of XP for players on top of Match XP.

As the Tenrai universe is one that offers some incredibly compelling aesthetics, we kept this event’s Story Shard cooking a little while longer to support it with some new bespoke artwork from two of our esteemed artists and honorable warriors—William “Pixelflare” Cameron and Duncan Shaffer.



This Story Shard takes the form of a retelling of “The Duel,” an episode from Halo Legends that became a cautionary tale for the Sangheili, as Arbiter Fal ‘Chavamee defied the Covenant and was made an example of, as the role of Arbiter was twisted from a position of honor into a mark of shame.

Tenrai III has come to Halo Infinite, bringing with it a new Story Shard.



Hosted here on Halo Waypoint, Duality is a single-part Story Shard that takes the form of a Tenrai-themed retelling of the Halo Legends episode “The Duel,” featuring art from William “Pixelflare” Cameron and Duncan Shaffer.

“Well, what happened then?”



The Sangheili lost the young girl’s voice as he scanned the area. For a moment, it had sounded as if the shouting and gunfire was getting closer to the warehouse, but he soon lowered his sword and retreated from the alley.



He recalled the story’s end. He knew it well, for it had been told a thousand times since he was a hatchling—and many thousands of times more for centuries before then.



And both would perish A lesson learned only by We who remember. 



In the old tale, the noble Arbiter, Fal ‘Chavamee, and the Covenant’s enforcer both fell to each other’s blades—an end that served nobody but the Prophets and their manipulative designs as the title of Arbiter became a mark of shame.



But, as the Sangheili looked into the round eyes of his young human protectorate, he realized that this story did not speak to the spirit of the times in which they now lived.



The Covenant had fallen, with various pretenders vying to lay claim to its rotting remains. And former enemies, the humans and Sangheili, had—in uncovering the truth about the lies of the Prophets—found some measure of reconciliation with each other.



As the final Age of Reclamation passed, it had been replaced by one of kinship and, perhaps in time, even forgiveness. The lesson to be heeded from the story as it had been told during the time of the Covenant was no longer simply the fear of punishment for disobedience, but that, when facing a great force that seeks to divide, true strength is found in unity.



“Apologies, child,” the Sangheili spoke. “It seems I have forgotten how the story ends…”



The human child made an exaggerated gesture of stroking her chin with two fingers as she studied the toy clutched in her other hand—a figure of a human Spartan, clad in stylized armor that evoked a period of their own ancestral history.



“Maybe we can come up with a new one together?”



What was forged then was the ending the Sangheili wished they could have once had to their centuries-spanning tale of blinding, all-consuming vengeance—and this is what it was…

Ain’t no raid like a Husky Raid! That’s right. Everyone’s favorite linear Capture the Flag (CTF) mode with random weapons has arrived in Halo Infinite!

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HUSKY HISTORY</h2>



First introduced to Halo matchmaking in Halo 4, Husky Raid quickly became a fan favorite. The concept was simple: there’s a narrow corridor, everyone has random weapons and limited cover, and you’ve got to get the enemy’s flag. The chaotic and fervent push to get to the opposite side to merely pull the flag proved to be half the battle… followed by the fight back down the corridor of doom and the push to bring the flag home to score.



In short, it’s CTF with the intensity and chaos turned up to eleven—weapons are random, attrition is high, and the battle for the flags is fierce.



Husky Raid returned in Halo 5 with a plethora of incredible community-made maps and a slew of REQ weapon variants to make the corridors go boom, which solidified its place as one of the all-time great Halo modes—something that, much like Infection in Halo 2, was born from the sheer creative might of the community. And now, Husky Raid has made its way to Halo Infinite.

With the arrival of Husky Raid in Halo Infinite, we can hardly contain our excitement, so it only seems fitting that a new event should accompany it with the opportunity to earn some free customization rewards.



The Containment event is live in Halo Infinite, bringing with it a free 10-tier Event Pass with HAZMAT-themed customization rewards for you to unlock.

From August 29 to September 12, the Containment event will be active.



This event is free, meaning that anyone can jump into it and progress their 10-tier Event Pass by completing Event Challenges, which will unlock customization rewards for your HAZMAT armor and Spartan ID.
