With the Custom Game Browser in Halo Infinite, it’s easier than ever to party up with new friends and foes who are playing custom classics from the days of yore (Lightspeed Halo is always a good time!) or trying out some of the jaw-dropping new game types that have been made possible.



On that front, if you haven’t already checked out this video from jackfrags as he explores what the customs scene has to offer, this will definitely give you a good glimpse at the community’s chaotic creativity!

It’s that time again for a new issue of Forge Features.



We’ve got a new opportunity for you to get your maps into matchmaking and a round-up of some of the latest and greatest 343 Recommended maps. Let’s get right into it!

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">343 REQUESTS: YOUR TIME TO SHINE</h2>



We want to get your maps into matchmaking!



There are times where we will be looking to vet a variety of community-made maps for specific purposes and playlists, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/forge-features-012" target="_blank">such as when we provided some templates for Husky Raid maps</a> back in our twelfth Forge Features issue.



We are looking for Forgers to submit maps themed around the seasons—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.



Maybe you’ve got a Halloween-themed map in-mind for some horrifying haunted house hostilities, or perhaps a snowy wonderland where grenades may be exchanged for some explosive Holiday cheer…



HOW DO I GET MY MAP NOTICED?



Once your map is in a state you’re happy with, you need to publish it and tag it with the relevant “343ask” tag, which are:

It’s Halo 3’s Longshore as you remember it, but with some multi-layered expansion as there are now a couple of ships docked around the borders of the map which provide additional space for you to move around.

Same song, slightly different verse. If you have a slight sense of déjà vu here, that’s because Death Island is another throwback to Halo: CE (for PC) that’s got roots in Silent Cartographer. Keep your wits about you, you never know where the enemy will be.

And yes, somehow—through the unholy alchemy of Forge and fan creativity—this is an exact recreation of the entire Warthog Run from Halo: CE.

Forge Features: July 5, 2023

We’ve got a special new edition of Forge Features for you today where we’re offering the opportunity to get your maps into matchmaking for the return of the fan-favorite Husky Raid mode!



Let’s get you a briefing on the details, and then let’s take a look at a new selection of community-made maps.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">AIN’T NO RAID LIKE A HUSKY RAID!</h2>



Ten years ago, we were playing a game you might have heard of called Halo 4. Like its predecessors going back to Halo 2, it featured the Action Sack playlist—the home of whacky and unusual gametypes often created by the community where we lost hours to Tug of War, Team Stickies, Dino Blasters, Paintball, and more. And one of the additions Halo 4 made to that offering was Husky Raid.



In Husky Raid, the map is a long, narrow corridor. You spawn on one side with random weapons, meaning that you, your allies, and your enemies may be heading out with a rocket launcher or a plasma pistol. And you’ve got to get through the chaos that’s about to ensue in order to capture the enemy flag.

The mode returned in Halo 5 (see an example in the screenshot above), and it’s now coming to Halo Infinite—and you’ve got an opportunity to get your own Husky Raid map into matchmaking!



THE TEMPLATES



We have two prefab templates for you to download and utilize in the creation of your Husky Raid map. Grab them from the links below.

These will be useful for getting Forgers started, so if you just want to apply some cool artistic flourishes to them that’s absolutely fine for submission. But if you want to take things a step further and make your own changes, or start from scratch to unleash your creativity, you should absolutely feel free to do so!



As for testing your map, in the meantime we recommend using Fiesta: CTF.



HOW DO I GET MY MAP NOTICED?



Once your map is in a state you are happy with, you need to publish it and tag it with the 343ask-Husky Raid tag and include a screenshot.

With two opposing bases that have been based (heh!) on the barrier towers from Halo 3’s classic mission The Covenant, and featuring a downed Scarab that is being reclaimed by nature, you’d have to be pretty insolent to not try this out with up to 24 of your friends!

Scrubulba has given us a breakdown of cost-effective lighting techniques he used, which could be useful for your own maps.

As mentioned in yesterday’s <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Community Update (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/site-seeing" target="_blank">Community Update</a>, we’ve officially rolled out a new process to ensure your hard work can be seen by 343 and considered for matchmaking. Thanks to the tagging system in-game, all you need to do finish your creation, attach a screenshot to it, and then use the appropriate tags when saving your map or mode.

Forge Features: April 14, 2023

The Community Collection playlist in Halo Infinite has been updated with new Forge maps from our veritable community of Master Builders!



When we launched the Community Collection playlist back in February, players got to experience maps both familiar and new that had been made by folks in the community using Forge—from a Banished-ified version of Damnation, to a UNSC-themed remix of Midship, and so on.



We stated that this playlist would be evergreen (meaning it would be sticking around in Halo Infinite for the long haul) and would be updated with more community-made content in the future. That day has now come, so let’s get you acquainted with the new arenas you’ll be stepping into.

Solution is a map that showcases just how far Forgers are able to push the density of detail with their maps while also offering a truly great gameplay experience. Just remember that there are enemies to fight, flags to grab, and strongholds and hills to capture as well as sights to see!

Similar to Vagabond, Curfew centers the urban aesthetics of Halo 3: ODST in this city precinct that feels like a genuinely lived-in space. These maps all join the existing maps in the playlist to add even more variety to the beloved Community Collection experience.
